Fuck the diesels. Bring back the true mini-truck...

I'm looking for a rehash of the first gen Taco's with the almighty 4.0L. Fuck the tech package, fuck the sensors/safety sense and fuck all the shitty badging. Let's make the Taco A FUCKING TRUCK AGAIN, and not some shitty 4WD Corolla...

I think Toyota already have something like this. It calls a Hilux. If it wasn’t for the chicken tax we might never got the Tacomas

If you’re an Aussie, then you’re all
set. You can get them 70s series all day and not having to do a fucking thing.

I like how a bunch of people are like "put a big v8 with a bunch of gears" I guess so you can tow/haul stuff?

A tundra, what you want is a Tundra.

Let's keep what little is left of this mid-sized truck actually mid-sized, m'kay?

The chicken tax has nothing to do with it. The Tacomas were always made either in CA, or now in TX and Mexico.

    i.e. no chicken tax.

A more comfortable passenger seat for Mrs Gunns. She hates long trips in the Taco.

The platform will also be used for trucks around the world so it should already be designed to accept a Manual.

Could be, I wonder though with the Tundra and Tacoma unified if they won't pull the manual for the cash savings. If they go with rear disc brakes they can offer them as a peace offering lol.

More than likely they will cut it but there is still a little beacon of light that they won't since it will be a worldwide platform.

Toyota can handle Aesthetics, As long as it doesn't get even more roundish. We don't need Car and Driver and the other Ridgeline fanbois.

I find it funny that the same crowd on here, no one in particular, that says the Colorado and Ranger look horrible want a truck that's basically the Hilux which also looks like crap. The world wants function over form. Americans will accept and love form over function, then complain and add some more functionality with the aftermarket.

One can never have too many light bars.
Turbo 4 banger with a 10 speed tranny. And an auto awd feature like the 4runner limited.

Negative on the Tundra! Dodge was putting v8s in their small trucks ~30 years ago.

    You said:

I'm just saying that the existence of the Tacoma isn't related to the chicken tax as you above statement seems to imply, if not explicitly say.

    It's market demands.

The US had been importing trucks essentially identical to the Hilux until the mid 1980's (post chicken tax). It was when the US/Canadian trucks got IFS in 1986 that the two trucks diverged, and another decade passed before the Tacoma came out. This was all due to how the vehicles were marketed in different countries. In the US, we liked our soft flabby suspension for driving our trucks to work. In other segments, they were (are) commercial vehicles used on farms, etc...
