I like the "color" from the second or third picture here. I think it is "light yellow" and "orange"?

I like the angle of this lighting the best out of what you posted.. Is there a dimmer on the LEDs? If so, going this route and dimming a bit might be the ticket, but I don't know what all is getting lost in translation with the photos.

I don't care for the looks of lights coming up through the bottles, personally. A soft backlight, like what is going on in the speakeasy pic above, is my favorite type of lighting.

Either way, it's looking really good!

 

My Liquor cabinet door opens downward with supports that make it serve double duty as a "work space" when open. Comes in handy at times. Not the best picture to show it but he only one I have with me.

I think the bottom picture is the lowest the lights will go. I will have to probably try another brand with more control over the lighting and color.

 

So here is what I would try. I would take lights not just from the back but also down the sides of the cabinet. This way you get the equal lighting effects. If you're trying to get rid of the light cones you see from the LED's themselves you want want an LED Strip diffuser this will help remove that effect and turn it into more of a solid light bar than points of light. You should be able to find it on like Amazon.

Most welcome. LED's can be annoying to get the right effects out of but they are also super useful. The strip diffuser is basically a domed looking track you slide the LED strip into, the frosted looking ones (I think they call it milky) seem to diffuse better than the clear ones in my eyes. They can run from cheap like $7-$8 a strip to kits in the $40-$50 range with aluminum trays on the bottom that keep things a little straighter.

My biggest thing with the LED's and such is take your time and make sure things are in straight lines, with the hard cutoff lines most LED's produce you want to make sure it looks good from the start.

 

Yea.. the ones I was using i the photos above are the strip type ones... a fairly cheap brand I found at the local Menards.

That’s pretty cool but I wonder about in being a multi in one. Yes they use the same motions and stuff but laser is very picky about some of the components so it makes me wonder if it’s good at all or just decent.

Ya the LED’s range in price the diffuser is just a tube that’s flat on one side that you slide the LED strips you have into them. That way you can use whatever you want for LED strips themselves.

I don't think that would make a very sturdy door...

 

We have one that’s a night light type of thing for my daughter. It’s a horse one. It looks pretty good and she like it’s.

It’s glows but doesn’t cast a lot of light that that may somewhat of an issue.

 

I was thinking it could be more of a cool looking diffuser. It may depend on the design and the clarity of the material too.

 

Try getting a tube of the LED strip diffuser to slide your current LED's into. Also run them down the sides of the shelf. If you want to uplight you and always hide them in the base or something. Try and and down lighting though I think you will have the best results with the down lights for an even spread. Then you can do the LED's into the lexan/plexi for nothing more than a cool effect and you don't have to worry about it lighting everything for you.

I'm planning to use plexi for a halloween lighting project to help diffuse and spread light for a set of scary eyes.

 

I have something like that for my BBQ team. They look pretty sweet. The thing it completely framed in.

It's only lit from the bottom, which makes the bottom of the design noticeably brighter than the top, but it looks good, still. Ideally, I'd have strips on the top and bottom - depending on the side, I'd put them on the sides, too.

 

What if it was laying flat on the shelf and lit from all 4 sides ?

 

The effect you see in the picture you posted is because the LEDs shin in to the edge of the acrylic. If it bled over, it might look a little different, but I don't know. I think a frame (even a thin one) around it is ideal, but you could try it out.

 

I guess I am just going to have to try it and post the results. I have an idea in my brain that I cannot put into the right words

 

Took another picture to show how the door works. I also have LED lighting. Does all sorts of colors and effects (strobe etc). I tend to just leave it red...
