I used to hunt on the Hana side when I was a kid with my Dad. We would even go Kaupo and all over the backside. But never got to chase deer over there. Same with you guys if you ever end up on this side and like go chase some sheep or some hogz just let me know..

Rage just like the others. They are pure evil to a deer, or anything that it hits for that matter. I can't wait to shoot a hog with one this winter.

Alot of Maui bow hunters swear by thunder heads. I haven't used them though.

I switched from Thunder Heads to Rage. Never going back. Don't get me wrong, they are good, Rage is just better in my opinion.

I switched from Thunderheads to G5 Montecs after my brother shot a bear with his a Thunderhead from a treestand, and the broadhead broke off right infront of the insert, and the shaft proceeded in, doing no damage at all. The track was hell, and came up empty handed after about 6 hours in the middle of the night.

My dad owned an archery shop for 6 years, and has been bow hunting for 30 years. He's obviously tried a ton of broadheads and says that the G5 Montec's are the best he's ever shot.

My dad and I both shot an elk last year, and both of our G5 Montecs broke right through ribs, and had penetration to the fletchings. We aren't shooting fast bows, either or they probably would have been pass thru's.

I choose G5 Montecs, as they are one piece, sharp as hell, and durable as hell too.

I shoot the G5 Montec's as well. I have heard of too many horror stories about Rage broadheads not deploying or stopping if the hit bone

x2. that is why i will never shoot mechanicals. all of my close friends that
tried them, have gone back to fixed. the problem with them is quartering shots. if they don't impact just right, they won't open right.

after seeing my wife get pass through shots shooting 42 lbs i am hooked
on cut on contact style blades. steel force, g5, slick trick, etc.

never used them they do look a little sketchy to me also. if you have a lot of lava rock like mentioned above i would think the standard muzzy would be best they fly great and are not that much money. i have killed all of my archery animals with muzzy products and none have ever failed me.

Original poster, as you can see... it is all about personal opinion. We are hearing horror stories about mechanical and fixed broadheads. I personally have never had a bad experience with either, just better blood trails from the mechanicals I have used. That doesn't mean a fixed can't do just as good. It is all about what YOU like in the end. It seems that the Thunderhead (which I used to shoot) is a popular choice on here for fixed broadheads. Over the course of time you should give them a shot. I would also give the Rage, and G5 a shot. It might be costly, but if you truly wanna find something that satisfies YOU, then your just gonna have to try out the market. Good luck to you this season and remember...bust em behind the front leg :D

I just ordered some G5 Tekon's. They look very similar to the Rage but hopefully will be alittle bit better because they are G5!

I laughed at the guy at sports authority when he told me the price. The muzzy and the rage 2 blade are the same price there. Ahhh the down side of living on an island.
