I like chrome but for some reason it doesnt work on the back bumper. I was picking up all the chrome trim people were getting rid of on this website but keep passing on the chrome rear bumper. I have the chrome TRD grill, Limited foglights and bezels and the Tacoma door emblems. This is a base SR with the painted bumper option.Toymater 007.jpg

FYI. Blind spot monitoring will not work with chrome bumper covers. Sensor behind the bumper has a problem with the chrome coating. Backup sensors work ok with the chrome covers.

TrdPro grille, blackout badges. Pretty much stock.
Chrome bumper ends might look pretty sweet on your truck. Just sayn'

I am pretty sure that chrome bumpers are not compatible with the fancy overland lifestyle.

From 1989 to almost y2k I had a 260z that I restored the body on and painted flat black primer. Flat black on the rims too with 60 series tires, that car got scratch in 3rd gear and I learned all about speeding tickets and racing corvettes and other z’s with it. Dual Holly 350 carbs and a powerband like a YZ80 when I’d occasionally advance the timing to run/sound like a 2-stroke. The flat black was totally out of style at the time but I thought it looked sick on the curves of the 260z body. My current infinity is its successor.

These days my stock tacoma sports chrome bumpers and is totally out of style by most accounts. Never have I been more glad to have kept it stock looking. I can’t overland, but it has been great for camping in the desert reliably for almost 20 years now.

    Nothing special
The Chrome bumper on my older Tacomas looked good, and could take an occasional "bump" and life goes on.

On my 3rd Gen sport the bumper is color matched. Looks nice for now, but it's a bumper, I swear people salivate over smashing into it based on their behavior around my truck.

Once it gets scratched and dented either a chrome take off or a steel powder coat for me. Truck is black, so I could go either way with looks.

I like Chrome for my browser, not on my truck! :)

Chrome is a great browser to help Google collect information about you. If you are fine with that, then yes it is well supported by many websites and works well.

I never gave it much thought, till this thread. Then I started noticing the cheap plastic "bumper" on the rear-end of the third gens and found a new appreciation for my chrome 2nd gen "real" bumper.

I kind of like them. I’m not in love with them. They do offer a contrast sharpness to the truck that makes it pop... but I do love blacked out too.. Ah well. Waiting for the right moment for a rear bumper and tire carrier.

I personally recommend painting them black to emulate a steel bumper then finding a snowy trail, clip a sapling and not find out your ripped a portion of your bumper to off until you get home. Then you can justify buying a steel bumper!

Never was a fan of the chrome, but I also wasn't even a big fan of the body colored ones (at least on my truck). Ended up Plasti-dipping mine black, which is something I hate doing, but the plasti-dip has actually held up extraordinarily well. Two winters, plenty of times wheeling, lots of car washes, etc.

If I didnt see the TRD decals Id think I was looking at a SR.
Nice Tacoma but I will never understand why the base model look is so popular.

You forgot to blank out the license plate on the white Camry parked next to your truck

I said bye to these bastards yesterday, wasn’t cheap, but I’m happy. Lesson learned with MGM, no one wants to deal with this paint with aftermarket parts
