My son called. were going to the mountain in the morning. lookin for sheds but mainly just getting the dog out. tryin to get her to find sheds.

So I’m driving to work this morning.
Let hand lane about 40mph.
People breaking ranks and pulling off to the interstate.
So I pull in front of this dumpster carrying truck and just move on down the road.
Fast forward to a stop light in front of a gas station. This light has a quirk from time to time and
It decided to do a fast red. So I stop fairly quickly, nothing crazy.
Suddenly I hear a moaning.... and not the good kind. I have heard this many times before.
Now I am always looking in the rear view when I stop. Always.
So in the rear view I see smoke. Tire smoke. And a big ass truck coming up on my ass with the wheels turned. And now I hear chattering.
He is not going to stop in time.
So before I got a truck up my ass, I beat feet with a hard right into and around the gas station entrance.
Truck came to a stop 2 feet beyond the stop line where I had been parked even with.
So in a nut shell I would have lost my truck.
So I pulled back to the road and this guy is holding his head and shaking.
I rolled down my window and yelled if he was ok.
He looked up and nodded.
So I gave him a thumbs up for not wrecking the dam truck yelled good job and pulled back out and went into the shop lot. He knew I wasn’t going into the station for anything except escaping.
So what the 2 cups of coffee couldn’t do, this truck did. I WAS AWAKE NOW.....
I can only think my racing experience has once again given me an edge of not freezing and
Reacting.....
The more I think about it, I really think this could have been a bad deal...

I’m just happy the dam trac control didn’t kick in until I did the exit stage right.
I usually shut it off but not this morning.

I never really understood all the electric options.all my other trucks and jeep just had a lever to put in 4WD. and had limited slip in the rearend.so in the mode you put the truck in what is the advantage.when on the mtn. I just do a short push of VSC. would that be right,for strong limited slip. sorry for the dumb questions. trying to learn from the master

 

I don’t want fake limited slip.
One ,it’s aggravating as hell.
Two, I want to be in control of the ass end..

 

Yes ..... whatever happened to the time of getting out of your truck and manually locking the hubs on the front wheels . Then next climbing back in the cab an manually pushing the transfer cases two shifters to engage 4wd

Such a much simpler time !!!!!!

 

Yes I had manual hubs on a truck or two. times have changed.

 

It all depends if you are in 2wd or 4wd

 

You can't even cross a two foot deep body of water in these trucks now without a sensor malfunctioning

 

I run 2WD on the mtn. and thought would increase limited slip on the mtn. road
