What’s the ultimate goal with the truck? I would sit down and figure out what it’ll be in the end and then start working towards that incrementally.

Personally, I wouldn’t waste $$ on a TRD skid plate or CAI.

I guess it would depend on what you want to do with it? Off-road, overland, mall crawl?

From what I've gathered, the CAI isn't too exciting. I'd surmise people are going to sway you towards a lift or sorts with tires. Gives it a good look with more utility.

The most impactful upgrade you can make to any vehicle is tires. You have a TRD OR so I assume you are actually going to leave the pavement from time to time...get some good AT tires and enjoy.

CAI is a waste of money and just about any other skid plate on the market will be better than TRD (go steel not aluminum). This is just my opinion of course.

I agree with above. What do you use your truck for? What is the end goal for the truck? Do you plan on taking it on roads less traveled or do you do mostly highway driving to and from work? Not wasting money on mods that your not going to use is the name of the game haha.

Shocks! The stock OR Billy’s are so bad. I couldn’t stand the brake dive. Swapped out for TRD Pro’s & still my favorite modification.

265/75/16 Duratracs. The Goodyear tire Toyota should have put on an Off Road Taco, not those dumb Kevlar "Highway Tires".

Must do upgrade, LED lights on the interior. I have a 2020 so I didn't need to do the exterior. There's also a thread here with all the typical upgrades. Check the sticky posts at the top.

I went with rock sliders as my first upgrade. They paid for themselves my first trip out on the trails. I got a bad spot and slipped onto a rock that did not do a thing to my truck because the sliders saved the day. I got mine angled at 5 degrees so they help as steps too. Some good tax season sales are probably coming up from a lot of brands. You will also have some money leftover to throw around.

Where do you want to drive your truck? Double track? Mud? Dirt road? The mall? Sand? Technical rocky trails?
These trucks are so capable stock, so I would suggest starting procuring your recovery kit.
Fire extinguisher, a larger one, bigger is better.
Shackles, a couple of them, I like soft versions.
    Tree saver.
    Kinetic strap.
Factor Five HitchLink or something like it.
    Solid bulletproof shovel.
    Gloves.
    Accurate pressure gauge and deflators.

Even though you may not need your equipment to get your truck out if you never get stuck, you will have it to help out another driver in need.

These trucks come stock from the factory with a well designed CAI. Aftermarket versions will be louder under 'foot to the floor no faster it'll go' and solid proven dyno claims are still a mystery, yet a lot of butt dyno confirmations, users saying better mpgs.
