My e-locker won't engage. I was pretty good about cycling it every few weeks or so, and then the last time I tried it didn't work. The light just blinks. I'm in 4-lo and have tried driving forwards and backwards plus s-turns. I'm going to try just turning the steering wheel back and forth without moving (read that somewhere on here), but if that doesn't work, do I need to rebuild it? is there any other things I can do? any other diagnostics?

Does anyone have a link to the rebuild instructions?

    Thanks!

I posted this in another thread recently, but this is the inspection procedure from the factory service manual from an 03.

I suggest looking at the locker detection switch on the elocker. This is the smaller plug that only has 2 wires. If this "sensor" is not working correctly, the system will not know if it is engaged or not, and the light will keep blinking.

I have the same issue where the light keeps blinking, but the diff lock does actually engage, i can feel it "cogging" as i drive and slightly turn. I have a 2002 4wd, I have a feeling its the indicator switch, thanks for the pdf's I'll check it out this weekend and let you know the result. I have also done the grey wire mod so I can turn on the diff lock on anytime, not just 4 low

I had the same issue. However, mine eventually turned on & wouldn't turn off. After removal of the actuator, I did find that it had a good size hole rusted thru. I cleaned the inside of it, fixed the hole, and boom she works like new.

You get the fast blink or the slow blink? Haha

Here is why I ask that.

After I regeared, whenever I engage the locker it never stops blinking altogether. When I first press the button to engage it, the red diff lock dash light starts blinking like it always did. I think of this as the fast blink. Then, when the locker actually engages, the blink rate slows way down. Like to half that frequency of the fast blink. The locker is definitely engaged but the dash light never stops blinking completely.

Does it start out fast and then go to the slower rate once the locker engages?

Did you regear or otherwise have to do anything to the locker control mechanism on the diff?

Its a steady slow blink the whole time, not re geared, I need to look at it this weekend to see if it may be damaged.

i had this happen just tis morning a day after I picked up my 2019 Toyot TACO OFFROAD from getting regeared. I TRIED ALL THE BUTTONS AND shifting from H to L and everything. I finally parked and turned off the engine and restated it disappeared. Later might be another story.
