Winter Camping North GA

Hey ya'll first time posting here. I'm heading to North GA (Helen area ish) for some driving and camping.

So here's the deal. The way it all worked out was I'm getting married in March (next month) and I had to come up with something to do for a bachelor party. I chose to go head north with some buddies and forgot completely about it being winter time being that I'm from about as far south as you can get. Last year I took the family through Tray Mtn Rd but it looks like it is closed down now.

I'm looking for some suggestions on some locations I can drive to that are relatively close to Helen that will give me some eleveation. North south east west don't matter. I'll also be camping out there - primitive camping is preferred - so anyplace that has a location I can setup a tent and park a few vehicles would be perfect.

Looking forward to it and ya'll responses. I'm leaving this Thursday, have a few stops and will be in that area Saturday. My late finding of Tray Mtn Road being closed kinda got me on my toes.

 

Upper Chattahoochee River Campground! You can google it! Check for road closures with all the rain!

 

I forgot the campground closes for the winter it may not be open either. Sorry.
