It'll be straightforward, just remove the radio bezel and the ac controls and you can get behind the switch bezel that way. Watch meso's video for the shift knob button wiring and it'll be pretty clear how to proceed.

I didn't take out the radio and AC controls because I didn't know how hard it was to get access to those switches from the top. I went through the bottom because that's where I was routing my wiring from.

Anyone with the original puddle t-harness successfully tap into illumination yet, and have the switch dim?

I currently have my garage door mod tapped into IG1-2 under the dash and the light for that switch but doesn’t dim.

Anybody want to sell a brother their passenger side cap after switching out to puddle lights?

Sorry kinda a noob to wiring. However I did the puddle light install with no issues when the came out a ways back. My question is where is everyone grounding the black wire on the back of the puddle light switch? Is there a preferred spot? Thanks guys

There should be some stuff already grounded in that area.

Whoops, I just grounded it to the bolt closest to the left most spot. It's just below and to the left of it, and it works fine.

I would think there are many spots that make a suitable ground.

Thanks! I have noted the ground eyelet loop diameter and will be a revision going forward. I always seem to have 1 little quirk on a launch product.

looks like he was just setting it there for pics. I was confused at first too lol

@CttAznRanger im in the middle of doing mine and can’t seem to find a metal grounding spot small enough to fit the grounding wire of the switch on. Switch is in, piece of cake, you can see it hiding down below, just need to find a ground and it should be off to the races.. where did you ground yours? I’m working in the center console switch panel.

If you are going to a stock 10MM bolt, my eyelet is a little too small. Just take some dykes and snip the top, opening the loop. like this.
Then any metal bolt behind the dash(if i recall just behind the 4X4 button there are a bunch of OEM ground cables going to a bolt..I'd use that.)

For anyone wanting a unique mounting spot, I bought a frame from shapeways to add a short fat switch in the ceiling console. I found out the puddle switch is too long to go on the right so I had to swap my locker button over to the right. Once I get illumination working (first gen) I'll be all set!

@MESO was right, I only modified the eyelet, I grounded using the bolt immediately adjacent to the switch panel.
