Bilstein 6112

Ah, missed the 2nd gen part.

 

How’s the ride on the 6th setting? I’m currently at 5 and it doesn’t feel to stiff.

 

Has anyone tried these model 5160 for the rear. Seem longer with 11.55” of travel similar to my Icon extended shocks?

Not stiff, but with the weight and higher springs I think its hard on the 6112s. Truck is very heavy, getting current weight today.
I really need a 650lb on the 5th notch. That'd be perfect.

 

Here is my similar setup. Finally got the bilstein 650's installed along with RXT leafs on the second setting. Coils are set on the 4th notch up front.

 

Pretty much the little brother of mine, same color and year only mines a dclb. Very jealous of your scs ray 10's though....

 

I like em too. Hard to get ahold of though! Its kind of a bad pic. Cant see the front or rear bumpers. Relentless Sting Ray up front, ATH standard i the back.

 

I as well am going to go with ATH for my rear but I'm going for the new high clearance one.

 

Hey guys. Looking for opinions how these feel ON the pavement. I have a TRD Sport which I'm pretty sure has a stiffer ride than the Off-Road. I take it out on the trails a few times a year and I would like shocks that do a better job soaking up the bumps; some of the fire roads that leads to the trails have killer washboards. These seem like the setup to go. But how do they handle on the pavement? This truck is my daily, and over potholes, bad roads (lots of those where I live), and freeway expansion joints, will these be MORE or LESS punishing than the stock setup? Thanks!

 

My opinion is they handle similar to the stock OR suspension on road but no brake dive issues. So they are softer than the sport suspension and absorb bumps better.

 

In my 2013 dclb, it was a hell of a lot better than my stock sport bilstein's. Less punishing in my opinion. I felt the difference right away. I would have zero question doing it all over again.

Follow-up question, do I need upper control arms, at least right away? Truck only has 30k. What would you go with?

 

Probably not. You might not ever need them at all.

 

It really depends on how far up you are going. Generally anything more than 2", the stock UCA should be replaced for caster and camber purposes but it isn't 100% necessary. I did it at the time of install because you have everything taken apart anyway and you have to get it aligned anyway afterwards. You don't want to pay for 2 alignments. I Highly recommend JBA, I have them on my rig and love them. Some go with SPC, total chaos, freedom, or icon. IMO, JBA gives you the best for the price.

 

On my 2019 OR this was a step up in off road and highway. It’s a bit stiffer at low speeds but not harsh at all and once you get up a little speed on rougher stuff it really soaks up the bumps.

 

Hey all,
Just got some eibach 650# in the mail. I'm going to get them installed soon but I was hoping for some advice to guide my local shop (Hazzard Fab Worx).
Here is my current setup;
Bilstein 6112's in the front set to 5/4
SPC UCA's
Bilstein 5160's in the back with Dakar heavy leaf pack
Fuel mavericks with 285/70/17 toyo M/T's
CMC and trim (I don't want to bash the welds in, particularly because others haven't had to to fit these tires)

My issue is that my tires STILL rub even after CMC and trimming. It's driving me crazy and it's been like this for almost a year and I've basically built the truck around it trying to address it. I was told at 4wp that I need to get rims that have a reduced amount of offset. I don't exactly have the cash right now for some method 305NV's particularly if they aren't going to fix the issue. I have no bumper, armor, or any real extra weight in the front. I plan on getting a bumper and armor though in the not too distant future as well as some rock sliders though.

Should I bring the springs to my shop and have them adjust my shocks? To what notch should I have them do it? I'm not looking for extra lift. I have a nice slight rake going on right now...

 

You have a couple of different options. You can go with some spidertrax wheel spacers to bring your offset out, you can raise it up a notch to give yourself some more lift (if you want to add armor in the future it will bring it back down), you can add in the 650lb springs and keep it at the same notch's (your ride might be a little stiff) or you can get it re-aligned and have them adjust your caster to move your tire forward more.

 

Sorry, I may have mis-spoken about the wheels/tires. They poke out. From my research (I bought the truck with them on) they have a -12mm offset. I'm also rubbing the cab mount at full crank on reverse, and the front fender lip at partial turn on the fronts. rubbing all over...

 

Pinch welds and ultra cut cmc. No rubbing at full lock or aired down. Also ensure you bend back the fender mounting holes at the bottom as that stuck out further on my vehicle than any other part. Old pic before the pinch welds but they are stupid flat! Solved all my issues
