I snapped a pic of this Silverado today, WTF is that bizarre contraption hanging underneath, looked like a factory piece?

Funny that you say that because that is what it initially reminded me of.

The Philly Auto Show has really dwindled in less than a decade...

Seriously, less than a decade ago, the show took up more than two levels of space; In the last five years or so, a lot of manufacturers have stopped showing their vehicles...

This year, BMW and Mercedes were conspicuously absent...

Porsche used to leave its vehicles unlocked, but now they're all locked because they're afraid people are going to trash the vehicles; All of the Land Rovers and Range Rovers, with the exception of the new Defender (thankfully), were locked!

Less than ten years ago, I'd come home with two bags full of automotive literature; Today, I didn't even fill one complimentary Toyota bag! Back in the day, my dad and I would always hit Toyota first because they would fill the bed of a new Tacoma with complimentary red bags, and then I'd be sure to grab a brochure from every manufacturer (even the ones I wasn't exactly a fan of); What pisses me off now is that manufacturers have steadily been going paperless in the interest of helping the environment, because statistically people tend to throw out the brochures...

I have probably ten years or more of sales brochures in various locations around my parents' house! I probably have brochures going back to 2014 in my room; This does not include the impressive collection of Rolls-Royce and Bentley brochures going back to the 1970s, my prized 1966 Duesenberg brochure, over a dozen Toyota brochures from 1985 to 2001, numerous Chevy brochures from 1981 to 1999, and several Dodge and Ford brochures! Translation: I keep my brochures!

I feel like a part of my childhood is slowly dying due to changing times...

The first time I went to the Philadelphia International Auto Show was in 1992, I believe; It was with my dad, my uncle, and my cousin (It may have been 1993; I remember that they had one of those old school Subaru wagons there, so it was no later 1993).

I vaguely remember sitting in a dark red/burgundy Pontiac Bonneville (like the one below) at the Philly Auto Show in the early 1990s...

The car had color-coded wheels like the one above, and I distinctly remember that it had a whorehouse red interior too! This generation/style of Pontiac Bonneville was made from 1987 to 1991, and then they came out with the H-body Bonneville for 1992, so if I was sitting in a car like the one above, then it had to be 1991; I was only 2 years old at the time (perhaps not even), but I remember sitting in a then-new Bonneville just like the one above!

The Subaru wagon I saw at the Philly Auto Show in the early 1990s looked just like the one below...

It was mounted on this gyrator thing that moved the car up and down, and there was a kid no older than middle school age "driving" it; I was no more than three or four years old at the time and wanted to ride in it, but we didn't end up doing that, probably because the line was obscenely long...
