Lift time

I just picked up a 2019 off road 4x4.
The million dollar question. I want 33” tires ASAP. I did so much research I’m confused. 1st looked at Icon stage 5. Now people are telling me King is the best then found out about Bilstein 5100. I’m going with method rims that’s a given. As far as set up what’s my best bet for the money. I will off road ever so often. My major concern in body chop. Also voiding my warranty just hit 1000 miles.

Nothing wrong with 5100, but pump the brakes. The stock vehicle is plenty capable but nothing wrong with upgrades.

Look at what you want more. You can fit a skinny 33 with no lift ( because that doesnt help with tire fitment) without cutting anything.

 

For light off road driving the Bilstein 5100 lift should suit you fine without all the extra $$$$. I would suggest adjustable upper control arms. (SPC light racing). Its your money so get what you want. Kings would be overkill for light Off road use IMO.

 

Bilstein 6112/5160.

 

Most Method wheels you can get with a zero offset. Which will be a good fit without any rubbing, even if using 285’s. I had a 3” lift with stock UCAs and Methods with 285’s and had no rubbing.

So with that being said, a more budget friendly setup will work fine. If you’re planning on just mild off-road use then getting Bilsteins would be perfect, Kings would be overkill.

 

Just leave the poor thing stock. Can literally do exactly what you plan on doing with it lol

First figure out how much you even end up offroading. It might very well end up being once a year. Also keep driving it, you may end up realizing the gas mileage ain't that great and if you start throwing stuff at it then it only gets worse.

Youve only put a 1000 miles on it. The dopamine is high as hell. It's the equivalent of meeting a hot stripper that lets you do anything to her so you think you're in love and are convinced you need to buy her a $5,000 engagement ring.

In the everlasting wisdom of bill Burr, "just rub one out". You're not thinking clearly. You're on this high of dopamine, testosterone, and all the awesome Tacoma builds and shiny shit out there. You don't even understand enough about what the difference between any of these options are.

Don't think with your dick. Actually use your truck. Put some wear and dirt on those tires at least. Do research and figure out what you ACTUALLY want to do with your truck, not what some internet strangers think you should do

If you barely off road, why get the best off road suspension? You don't need ICON Stage 5 suspension or KING whatever to off road once or twice a year unless that off road trip involves driving like 50 miles of washboards.

I think you should get a packaged Bilstein 5100 kit and the cmc and be done.
Don't spend like 3 or 4k on suspension because it's the best. There is no point unless you need it.

Also, lift and cmc doesn't void warranty. Whichever dealer told you that, don't go there anymore.

Here are 3 different trucks running 33's.
First truck is on Icon Stage 2 (I recommend if you can afford it),
Second truck is on Bilstein 5100's with OME springs (what I recommend if you want the lifted look and aren't off roading all the time)
Last one is running Bilstein 6112 front and 5160 rear (I recommend if you do washboard stuff, what I would go for if I could afford it).

You're looking at suspension that are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Cut the difference and go with some bilstein 6112's up front, 5160's out back, and whatever AAL you want

 

I have 285s with a -12 offset wheel and have to rubbing anywhere.

 

Do you have a pic of your truck from the front with this configuration?

Personally if your not gonna be wheeling it or off road 50% of the time, your Fox, king, icon, bp51 any of those is a waste.. your gonna need em rebuilt in a couple years and that’s a pain..I just did 6112 5160 kit and it’s killer.. huge 2.5 front shock and a remote resi rear. Suits my driving and off road needs.. I didn’t want 33s been there done that in a Tacoma. I went with 265/70/17 and wouldn’t change a thing.. all depends what’s important to you I guess. But king and icon shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence as the 5100s total different products. FWIW my suspension cost me 1,186$ to my door.. took me about 3hrs to instal and a trip to have it aligned. Done

 

I agree. It all comes down to what you will use it for. If you plan on aggressive off-road trips go for the top of the line. If you want it to look good and be functional you can go with some options that are less harsh on the pocket.

 

I think that's a great look. I don't know much about wheel offset, I'm still learning. Did you accomplish that with wheel spacers?

 

I’m running 255/85/R16 which is a “skinny/pizza cutter” 33” tire. Not much skinnier than stock really. I have Stock 2018 OR suspension and wheels. No cmc, no heat gun, no aliens. Just had to take front mud flaps off. Fits with no issues. I’ve done quite a few trails with this size and no problems. (Did chipped the wheels and sliders on rocks.. and smashed the skid plate in the front lol.. oh and the strut mount in the rear after slipping off a rock) BUT no problems with the skinny tire. I like the look personally.

not sure what wheel size you’re gonna go but just my experience for you. Skinny means less headache if you’re not doing crazy offroad then you might not need crazy suspension. I haven’t figured out what I’m gonna do but I still trail with stock components. Personally if I could keep stock I would. But I just want to be one of the cool kids and ride a little higher haha..

 

Wheel offset is listed when your purchase you wheels. Negative offset brings the wheel further out towards the toad. Positive offset bring the wheel in closer to the engine bay. Negative offset allows for bigger tires with less chance of rubbing! At least that’s what I was told. Anyone with better info can correct me if I’m wrong!
