Been really happy with my band saw. I push it beyond its limits at times and it shuts down but it always comes back for more. Broke my first blade today but luckily I had a back up.

Agreed, zip tie a couple coils in to stop it fighting you.

 

Blades get expensive after awhile. Going slower will yield better results also, if you don't mind me saying.
I have no idea what kind of experience you have, so forgive me if I'm over-stepping.

 

Lol no worries. I've had this blade for about a year. At like $15 I'm not too sad about it. I do try to go slow, sometimes I'm not very patient tho haha

 

I wanted to make it easier to move my Grizzly mill around. I started with the old tabletop from my lathe. I cut it to 36".
Next I took a cheap set of 4 1/2" rubber HF wheels and used the lathe to cut down one side to countersink elevator bolts.
That way it would rest on the rubber.



I installed a set of workbench folding wheels and mounted the mill on the new mobile platform. It moves around with ease.



With the legs folded it now sits on the rubber and is more sturdy than it was before.

How are you guys getting oil out of driveways/concrete. Borrowing my dads bobcat and put a board under it but had a finish on top so the oil ran right off.

 

Dawn dish soap and a little scrubbing. Then try one of the concrete cleaner solutions and pressure wash with both. Seems to get most of it with the Dawn. Just don’t let it sit or it will be harder to get rid of.

 

Dry cheapo powder laundry detergent. Just sprinkle a bunch on and let it sit for a day or so. We used to do this at the shop I worked at back in the day. Been doing it ever since. The longer you let it sit the less scrubbing. Usually mother nature's rain will take car of it.

 

Simple Green neat. Pour it on. Let it soak. Scrub with a bit more and hose off.

 

Oil dry ground in with a boot. Or a piece of 4x4 on the end of a broom handle works great.

 

The mill weighs about 365 Lb. Add another 20 Lb for the stand and 30 Lb for the vice.

 

Starting fluid, the cheap stuff from Autozone or Walmart.

Spray down the oil stain real good so it blast out the oil that has impregnated in the concrete. Soak up the residue with cotton shop towels. It dries in a hurry so no waiting for the concrete to dry to see if you got the stain out.

Obviously, soak up as much of the liquid oil 1st with a towel or sawdust. Just don't use cat litter. That stuff doesn't work for fuck all.

It works amazing! You can thank me later.

That's a neat little milling machine! (I say little because I run a 3 axis at work)

 

Pick up an oil drip tray.....cheap pieces of metal with a small lip. Can be picked up for under 20 bucks. Work great to contain dripping fluids under stuff.

For clean up...

Obviously first choice is the metal drip tray as it can just be wiped up.

Pig mats are my go to when I know something with be leaking oil. Just toss them down before hand or after it starts dripping.

Then if it's more of a spill....kitty liter works great to absorb it. And is cheap. Just spread a thin layer over the spill and wait a few minutes then sweep up. But...and big but....it only works well on smooth surfaces. Porous concrete or in cracks it won't do well.

For small cleanups....regular shop towels and favorite degreaser. Wipe up much as I can then spray with degressor to finish.

 

Never had any luck at all with cat litter. Doesn't clean and doesn't really absorb oil. Surprised no one has tried Simple Green. It is very good degreaser. Soaking and a little action with stiff brush and water, hot if you can. Takes even old grease and oil out of concrete.

 

Guess I'm the odd ball since kitty liter has always work great for me and absorbs oil and hydraulic oils just fine.
