Dumping Exhaust

    Im thinking about cutting the pipes about half a foot behind the muffler, right now i have Flowmaster Super 44 and took off my resonator.. sounds decently deep as is... but i was wondering if cutting the pipe and leaving it straight ( Not Dumping To The Gound ) would make it deeper.. and also if it would make it "Ricey" sounding. give me ur opinions guys.

    no but i cut it in the bend over the axle and welded a piece on the deflect ex from the spare

    im thinking of playing around with a few configurations.

    my next will be a glasspack maybe to duals...just for shits and giggles. just to say i can. Been playing with the welder alot!!! lately. i love welding so ill cut shit just to weld it back together lol.

    You will have the ricey sound no matter what you do with that. Cutting that bend out of your exhaust will not change the dynamic of your exhaust note much, if any. I have played with my exhaust a ton... I would be curious to see what a resonator on your truck would sound like. Can I suggest installing it backwards though? PM me if you the logic haha.

    My magnaflow is dumped and it definitely has a different tone than before. I believe that's due to the fact that it now points down and the sound hits the pavement and echoes, rather than before when it was side exit.

    Well....what I have always been told is that the flow of the exhuast has a lot to do with sound, the longer the air flows through your pipes and the more bends it goes through the quieter your exhaust will be. So in theory if you cut your pipes right behind the muffler it should be louder, deeper im not sure, but definately louder. Thats why each muffler sounds different, they are made different on the inside of the muffler of course everyone knows that, but the way they are made has a lot to do with it, it all has to do with how many bends the air has to travel through, so yes cutting it off will make a difference.

    You have to take into account that he is cutting off only about maybe a foot or so of pipe... Not a whole lot. The main sound difference you will get if any, is the extra sound from the resonation off of the truck. Whether this sound change will be a good or bad outcome is beyond me....

    i have a dynomax super turbo and i love the sound. me and a buddy put it on and we cut out the old exhaust and welded this new one up. problem was we didnt have any more tubing so it ends right after the muffler.

    sounds great but it worries me. can water get up in there? i wanna put just like a short six inch pipe that turns down

    I would suggest that... Condensation can get up in there and start to rust it out... Bad thing about a muffler is that if you do get moisture in there, it is tough to get out.
