Every time I have hit the limiter it bounces off it.

Changed it yesterday. It was as easy as you described, minus having to best-guess the torque value in order to drive to buy a torque wrench to properly torque the bolts. Shifting is noticeably smoother, going from 4-5 felt like sliding a hot dog into a fresh jar of mayo. 1-2 is still kind of crunchy though. I used AMzZZZOIL, so maybe next time I'll do Redline and see if it changes anything, if I don't trade the thing in for an 80s Astrovan first.

Did anyone else that's changed their tranny's fluid notice it tastes WAY more like Pepsi than Coke? I was shocked!

in the automatic, in S mode, hit the limiter, continue to hold the gas, fuel will remain cut, and the truck will slow down, until you hit 4000 rpm.

I'm 93% sure it bounces. The remaining 7% depend on your attire.

i’ve experienced that multiple times, mainly with all the trac aids turned off trying to get tail happy in snow.
You have to let off the gas for it to go again

I would much prefer it just bounce off the limiter!!

Also side note is there any way we could get a higher idle in low range? Trying to rock crawl at that low 500rpm idle does not make for a happy taco motor - gets real knocky sounding, tries to stall out.... it can’t idle over obstacles, not enough torque. Such a strange motor to be placed in front of a clutch

And, curiously, i’ve noticed that on stock tune (on pavement) i could slowly let out the clutch with no throttle and it would maintain rpm, and move forward — seems much more inclined to stall out with the tune - more or less /have/ to give it throttle. Worth it for all the benefits of course — I wonder if that has to do with all the ignition timing data Toyota had at idle that you wondered about on your blog

Bounced it on mine in 2nd and 3rd. Didn't hold though.

You're not wrong. MT90 tastes like an oilier version of the afterslick you get from flat Pepsi.

Ok what i'm trying to pinout. on the MT you're at full throttle, you hit the limiter, to keep your foot buried in it.
Does it do "na na na na na na" as it continually bounces at the limiter,
or does it hit the limiter, and start decel, even when your foot is still in it.

Don't know if it will help but the couple of times that I have hit the limiter it gave me the na'na's 3-4 seconds until I put in the clutch and shifted to the next gear. It did not appear that it would "decel" if I kept my foot in it. Not sure I want to test that theory though...rpyqxrxKyMXHnavCpZzV.gif

    Canada Eh!
@OVTune If you don't get a definitive answer by tuesday, I'll test it on my truck with datalog and video. However, when I test drove a 2020 TRD Sport 6MT, I took it to the limiter in 2nd, and it DID NOT continuously bounce off the limiter. With my foot still buried the engine started to decel. I didn't see how low it took the rpm's before I upshifted.

My recollection off how older vehicles would bounce off the rev limiter was in a late 90's/2000's GMC pickup. It was a rather violent and abrupt "bouncing".

It bounces if you let off the gas but it decels to 4k if you keep it floored. Did it stock, not sure if i’ve done it since it’s been tuned. As soon as you let off the throttle completely you can re-apply it

I just went out in my truck and held throttle to the floor in first gear. Held rock steady at 6900rpm for 2 to 3 seconds then I let off. 2018 with latest update running 2.0 beta
    Edit
Ok just did it a second time. It will hold 6900 for about a second or so then slows down a little to about 6500 where it will stay for the 5 seconds I held it. It is very smooth both when it first hits the limiter and as it drop to 6500. No na na na crap

How was that inappropriate? I'm confused. If I did something against the rules I'll delete my post...
