And then finally mounted the highlift jack permanently in the back.

Actually it works really well off road. Unless your in a rock garden or extreme rock crawler. But a dubbler will help out there.

I was indeed able to rustle up a set of the ultra rare S-Runner seats today!!

The guy told me "1,000 people called for the seats after me".. I had spotted the truck on offerup 28 minutes after it was posted, called immediately and gave $100 to hold them over the phone, sure glad I did! Paid $300 total and they are looking pretty darn good for their age, one track is stuck sadly but the price dropped from $400 originally which I was happy to pay if they were working fine since they are so hard to come by and these were looking great in the pics.

Here they are before any cleanup at all.. seems dreams do come true!
    20200215_130238.jpg

I also grabbed the front and rear sway bars and all links and hardware for $75 a piece. Unfortunately I realized the mounts for the rear are welded to the axle. The yard wanted $500 for the full axle but I didn't want to drop to a 3.15 ratio for my 4 cylinder ultimately, I need all the help I can get off the line in my 2.4. Plus that would be one pricey rear sway bar experiment!

Anyone install the S-Runner rear sway onto a standard axle by chance?
    20200215_130835.jpg

The struts and shocks were all aftermarket so I passed, and he wanted $175 for the center console which sounded a bit steep for quite a few scratches and broken doors. I am under the impression my 5 speed shifter surround console from my base cab 2wd will work with the center console I already got below, hope this is right, can anyone confirm?!
    20200203_131052.jpg

The leather wheel was shredded already. There was one decent flare for $75 that I should have probably picked up but I dont want to start down the path of hunting for these ultra pricey hard to find flares that will need repair and/or paint to get them nice.

But oh yes indeed fellers, thanks be to the Tacoma gods and let there be ergonomics of the OEM variety!!

I like a manual trans off-road, that being said I have 2 auto trans because I’m lazy :pccoffee:

Or unless you're stuck in any kind of mud.

So... it works great... unless you're in rocks... or in mud.

Like I said. Manual trans has it's place. For me, that place is not in an off road rig.

Ok so no one asked but I don’t care. I’m putting my vote in for MT when it comes to off-roading. I’ve been in so many situations in the Auto where I’ve had the thought ‘man I wish I had a manual trans’.

In my older manual trans off-road rig I never thought, ‘boy it’d be great if I had an auto for this’

Exactly! I miss my Manual trans for offroading but I sure don't miss it when daily driving in traffic haha!

I never had any clutch heat problems offroad, and when it comes to getting stuck, I can throw a manual from 1st to reverse to rock the truck back and forth way faster and more efficient than an auto trans.

As someone who swapped an auto for a manual, auto is better for am offroad truck. Especially for some who sucks at true offroading like myself. But I no longer have to worry about my auto shitting the bed.
