Been contemplating a trade in and my 2017 OR was right round $40K MSRP with the premium something package with a tonneau cover, JBL, heated seats, parking sensors, etc.

Just using MSRP to compare, it now seems the MSRP goes something like $38K, $39K, $40K and then big jump to $44K. With comparable options, my 2017 is closest to the current $44K model minus the leather seats. Is leather really a $4K bump and what happened to the "mostly loaded" option with the JBL, heated seats, etc? Maybe it's all that safety crap bumping the price up.

Don't all TRD models have the power seats now? I don't see that in the options lists.

    Yeah everything sr5 and up.

The trd has a ton of options and packages that other trims don't. I got a trd or, zero packages no options for about 36k plus TTL, but that was in December so still kind of fresh, could have saved if I waited but. Oh well.

AFAIK, for 2020, Leather seats are tacked onto the most pricey spec, and are only available with TRD Premium Off-Road Package (Double Cab A/T) and Technology Package . Price Change (+$5055) over $36,965 base plus delivery, plus Tonneau Cover... So seeing roughly $44k the way you spec'd it sounds right on the nose... That shouldn't stop you from walking in there like a savage and persuading them to give you all of the above for $38k out the door with your trade.

If i wanted same package 2020 sport, it wouldve been about 5 grand more. I checked the toyota website recently. People wanted power seats and fancy headlights soo.

This is how we ended up with $40k Tacomas and rear drum brakes.

    Most Tacomaholics are going to

Bitch about the shitty "pleather" till the point where they cover it with more pleather from some pasta sauce seat cover company that sells slip ons
Bitch about the head unit to the point where they change it
Bitch the BSM system can't be used with an aftermarket rear bumper without issues

The base OR is where it's at.

If Toyota offered a sunroof and lighting package as a stand alone option

I don't need dual climate control. That's just more shit to go wrong

The Fed says it's still too low

Toyota knows people will pay up in a era of cheap money

Dual climate control adds just one blend door & a temp sensor compared to the manual climate control lol

Best I could do was 39k before TTL for a well loaded 2020 4x4 OR.

Exactly, if you compare a bare bones TRD OR its a measly $200 increase from last year for the power seats and apple carplay. However, Toyota decided to adjust the packages, add some (adv tech), etc. and that is where the massive price hike kicks in. Correct if you want JBL/Leather and tech now, you are looking at least a $2k bump from prior years for similar options, add the adv tech and your roaming into $45-46k range for a loaded up TRD OR. Toyota isnt stupid and options all the added fluff is where manufacturers make their money.

Yep, 10-12% off MSRP, everyone loves high resale, but sucks when it comes to buying new.

I get all that. I just don't see why, with all the packages, they can't have one without leather but with the nice things to have like heated seats, better audio. Inflation doesn't account for them pushing some options to only the high end packages. That's just marketing.

Oh ya its not inflation, its supply and demand, they know buyer's are opting for those options and buying lots of these trucks. I think you can now get heated seats and dual climate control without the leather, JBL and moonroof, forget the package name though.
