Hey folks, I need some advice on a price to put on my Tacoma. I have a 2004 Tacoma with the frame rust. There is a small hole already in the frame so I’m looking to sell it. The only other known problem is the check engine light is on because I need an oxygen sensor. What’s a fair asking price for it?

With a full blown rotted out frame or one little spot? depends if it can be fixed or if the truck needs an entirely new frame

One spot, About the size of a quarter. It can be repaired, I have gotten several quotes on repairs but I have a newer Tacoma and another car so I just don’t want to fool with getting it fixed.

what's your code? if it's a p0420 it isn't just an oxygen sensor.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
A quarter size hole indicates a significant internal problem.

When you do put it for sale somewhere, your target will be folks who are either fabricators or looking for a parts truck.

It's a shame. Nice looking truck.

I love that truck, it’s been great for me. Just got the curse of 2004 unfortunately.

Put up some pictures of the frame. I’m a welder by trade and can give you an idea if it’s worth fixing before you sell it. that seems like a very nice truck, low mileage, and in good shape otherwise. It would probably pay you to fix the rust and get significantly more for the truck. just my $0.02

So very hard to give a estimate from pictures alone .

So much more is found up close and in person.

Since you don`t want to mess with fixing it .

That is a good $3000.00 to $4000.00 off the price plus new cats and exhaust another $1000.00 or more

Did you get the Toyota frame recall done a while back. My 2004 was good when I sold it.

I bought it used and the person before me didn’t do any of the steps, no coating and no frame replacement so I wasn’t eligible when I bought it.

while in general i agree with you, sometimes they get small rust holes and can be fixed enough to get by for awhile. when i was searching for my first gen last year i found plenty with perfect frames but they would have one small hole. it’s really weird how they can rust in one spot and not others. my truck had a new frame but the exhaust and other parts were perfectly fine from rust. what i’m saying is, the frame might be decent enough to fix and sold. some people might not be bothered by it if you’re up front with them, and others won’t want anything to do with it. it all just depends.
