Going to order one of the two this weekend (may bite the bullet and buy both).

I HAVE to get the dealer to install (long story short my dealer offers lifetime drivetrain warranty on the condition that all installs/services are done through them - at the recommended times).

I was quoted an install price of $89 on the CAI in labor and $75 for the exhaust. Do these prices sound reasonable?

Also, they wanted $475+tax for the CAI or $495 for the exhaust. I know I can get the CAI cheaper online but the price seems about right for the exhaust.

    Thoughts on any of this?

Also, can anyone tell me the exact part # for the new CAI (I know they changed it recently due to making it "legal").

Exhaust. And even having them install it you shouldn't be paying more than 520. That's the price on the Toyota website and that price includes installation. But I'd buy it elsewhere for cheaper and have them install it if that's the requirement.

Exhaust. I still vote do it yourself, you can't be denied warranty work because you put the exhaust on, that's bs. But ah well, I get your drift on why you want to though.

As for the intake, just do a drop in AFE Pro Dry (get online, and put it in yourself... if they won't let you change your own filter that dealer needs to go away imo). The stock intake is already a CAI as it pulls from the passenger wheel well, and it has good surface area for intake. I had a k&n drop in (but they tend to mess with the maf's if over oiled, afe is better and easier to clean) with the TRD cat-back on my 08... she'd burn the oversized BFG AT's all day long no issue. Not a lot of extra power, but the butt dyno said it was snappier on response. FYI, I'm getting the TRD cat-back for my '10, still waiting on shopTRD to ship the damn thing (aug 8th... ....)

Ouch, ordered August 8th and it still isn't in? Perhaps I will continue searching for another place to purchase it from. That sounds crazy! Have they told you why, or anything?

Seeing as it's not the factory warranty they can probably say whatever they want for something the dealer is offering. I agree it's BS though.

I've got both and if I had to chose only one I'd say the exhaust. Better noise for your buck and that's all you'll be getting with these upgrades.

i have run both together and separate. i originally did the intake first. not recommended.
knowing what i know now, i would do the exhaust first, with a good high flow drop-in filter. this is what i run now. the intake doesn't get you much performance gain over a good filter. nothing you would notice.
it only takes like 15 minutes to do the exhaust. especially up on a rack. so don't let them charge you an ass load of labor. its bogus horse shit

I've had both - currently I have the trd exhaust with an AFE pro-dry drop in replacement for the stocker.

I vote exhaust - and both of these parts took me not much more than 30 min to install, to give you an idea on labor time.

Well, they did ship it 1.5 mo later. However, it wasn't packaged at all.. and it was destroyed in shipping. So I sent it back, they were supposed to send a new one out... so far been like 3 weeks after they received the damaged one... I just called again, the guy I'm dealing with should leave me a voice-mail tomorrow with the status. If I don't get it by early next week, I'm going through corporate (it is a Toyota dealer after all).

jtav: I love the wheels and tires! Also, your truck is the first MGM one I've seen that makes me want to go badgeless!

Do you have a lift on it?

No lift. May eventually get the rear TSB done and put some 5100's up front.

I was actually going to paint the badges black that's why I took them off but I liked the look without them on so I just got a black TRD emblem to throw on the tailgate and called it a day.
