So your advice is to take something that is not only paid off, and still only 25k miles on the truck, with tons of money and years of my life and full time attention to building something that can be used as a tool to help fight veteran suicide,
Worth an absurd amount of real money and sell it for pennies on the dollar and get absolutely jack shit for it because it’s in a condition that nobody would want except someone building exactly what I’m building

I appreciate that you are suggesting this from a good place

    but
    Don’t

    Making more room
That cubby space basically becomes useless once the cage goes in
So might as well make room for something else

All the cage work had to be cut out and thrown in the trash because it was unsafe half welded and improperly built.
Truck was moved to a new shop who I trust to do the right job
But because this is something I plan to have for years and years and I Hope only to grow this idea of rescue trucks, I have enrolled in fabrication school
A few weeks in, but soon, won’t need to outsource for everything

    Nice lil weld table!
I need to make one of those for myself as well. Any pointers?

I can give you all the measurements for this one if you want.

but the biggest thing is squaring it multiple times through out welding it
Don’t weld two spots on the same side in a row and let the metal cool thoroughly before welding more joints

I cut all 11 of my parts
Cleaned them all and surfaced all the edges and then did tac welds to attach all the leg pieces together, check for square, repeat for second leg,
Then you use your table top supports to tie your legs together and again, square it, then tac it.
Then add your top, square it, tac it

and then start burning all your leg 90* joints
Then finish with stitch welds on your table top to secure it to the rest of the table

it took the class around 3 days for everyone to complete it and be graded
I missed 2 of those days and got mine done in 1 day and got a 97

    so
You should be able to do one pretty easily as well

I just finished my bridge rectifier AC-->DC conversion on the junk HF flux core last night. Didn't test it out yet, but will this weekend.

Something 24x48 would probably be enough for me and most my needs and desires, but more realistically, 24x36 would also be good enough.
I don't foresee me working on projects with this small welder and needing a table to hold more than that down. It's good for up to 1/4" and that's probably pushing it.

Nice! Short of TIG welding, sounds pretty similar to what our shop uses. All Miller and Lincoln stuff on the production floor.
Of course, I don't get to play with them much not being a production employee "technically", and in IT. Maintenance super lets us do what we want, though.

Shoving a 1k amp stick through mechanical hard disks like a light saber beats the pants off Office Space!
