Morimoto Minis D2s from the retrofit source. If you can do the BHLM, the it'll be a walk in the park.

d2s or h1. either one will be 10000000 times better than a drop in kit. in fact, maybe someone will post what kind of light output they have with these drop in kits so we can compare them to an actual hid projector retro. night and day difference

you get what you pay for. cheap=cheap

yea, only those projectors on theretrofitsource.com will give you a good output. all those on ebay and the like will give you TERRIBLE output!!

those morimoto mini's are as easy as swapping in a bulb adn doing a BHLM. if you can do that, you can install them...

so these morimotos dont require any cutting? ive seen the write ups on here and they seem pretty complicated, not to mention i dont have a dremel (and dont feel like buying one for just one job)

nope, no cutting... the projector has a H4 bulb base, but uses D2 based bulbs. there are a few writeups here and im sure there are a ton more on google...

EDIT: i was wrong, the mini's are bi-xenon...

np, but FYI, you will need new bulbs (i would suggest OEM ballasts at the same time.) as your kit is H4 based and the projectors require bulbs that are D2 based.

oh, i understand now, not sure if want to do that now...dont want to buy a WHOLE set up, pockets are pretty shallow at the moment

also, why wouldnt i just keep my ballasts? is there a big difference between the DDM and the OEMs?

^ well, your going to need new bulbs no matter what (i have a used set of phillips D2S bulbs if you want them for $50 shipped) and a wire harness ($25) at least. i would highly suggest a set of OEM ballasts (i also have a set of matsushitas or densos i'll let go for $100 shipped/pair) at the same time...

new ballasts b/c your going to have to get a D2 adapter anyways, and i've heard of so many of those ballasts failing...

you need a new harness and bulbs anyways, so might as well just sell your kit as complete and get the new stuff. by the time you do this, you will be ahead than if you tried to salvage all that crap for your new setup.

quality HID setups arent cheap...were not in the $50 kit range when youre trying to do it right w/ projectors.

if your hid kit is an h4, then none of your current components will work with either the d2s or the h1 projectors mentioned above. they both use different style of bulb. you would have to scrap all of that stuff and get a whole new setup. which is actually a good thing. please search for DDM and its sooo hit or miss with their products. even though the have life time warranty, you will be dissappointed in the long run

k, so let me get the pricing right here...

if i were to buy the set up from you, bulbs/ballast/harness, im looking at 175, then the retrofit projectors are around 120...

so total price im looking at 295

that would be all i need? or is there more?

i have used D2S ballasts/bulbs that you would get for $150 shipped from me. (phillips bulbs and matsushita (OEM nissan) or denso (OEM toyota) ballasts)

you would still need the projectors and harness from TRS for $145 plus shipping. you would most likely also want a shroud for the projectors from TRS, so whatever that would be.

thats all you need...projectors, shrouds, bulbs, ballasts, harness.

thanks for all your help, but i think ill hold off on the retrofit for now..

would rather put that 300 or so dollars towards something else for the taco (lights work and im content with them)

maybe ill wait for the ddms to go out then look into that... :)
