I just didn't realize that there were ranges of tire width that could fit on a specific rim. I thought a rim would only fit one very specific tire width. I definitely don't plan on doing anything outside of what is recommended...

P.S. - You ignoring my texts? :boink:

Stock suspension on a 2018 TRD OR DC 4x4.
Looking at getting the TRD Pro (PTR2035110BK) wheels and wondering if 255/75/17 is the right call for the tall(ish)/skinny route in BFG K02 T/A's ? Not looking to go with mud tires since the vast majority will be so cal roads and freeways with the occasional trip up to the hills and snow when there is any. This is more of a job site truck than a serious off road weapon, so not really considering suspension mods at this point. Looking for the best, slightly taller, non fat tire to make this work well in all situations.

    Thanks.

I'm likely going with DX4 Gear rims, Falken WP 255/80/17 tires with an eventual Billy 51s all around. The Billy's will pride a 2" lift and the tires a 1" lift ( 3" overall ). I'll get the Blies from HeadStrong, so headed in the right direction. A few folks on here have 255/80/17 on a stock setup and report being just fine.

In your opinion, would these rub anything on a stock suspension'd 18 ORDC 4x4 ?

Stock - just add taco sauce
I’m no tire expert. But, on my truck, which has stock suspension, they don’t rub. Lots of variables like wheel offset and spacing. These are FJ spare Steelies . I’m sure on the wrong offset or spacing they would rub.

Well, at some point you'll max out either direction. No shop is going to install anything absurd. Some places will only install OEM sizes, or allowed alternative sizes. My current setup would be perfect on your truck.

    Texts? :notsure:

Has anyone had experience with a 35/10.5/17? Kenda makes one and walmart is selling them for 166 per tire. Considering changing from my 255/85/16 coopers.

I pulled the trigger and went with the Coopers. Finally got to a position to stuff the suspension at full lock, and no rub. I DID have the guy install a no name leveling kit from Amazon, but I don't think that would have made a difference. I absolutely love these tires. Especially the way they look...Super aggressive. This is EXACTLY the look I was going for.

I tried searching the thread but there is so much conflicting information out there and I'm JUST STARTING TO LEARN about tire sizes, so feeling a little overwhelmed. What is the consensus on 265/70R17? I just ordered some 17" 4Runner TRD Pro wheels and am exploring my tire options for that wheel size.

Also kind of budget conscious preferably :anonymous:

I phrased it badly. I guess what I am asking is if there is a "skinny" tire that would fit that wheel and what the best options are for tires

Upon further review and looking at the available sizes, I am guessing the sizes I am talking about are 245/255 70R17s...

Possibly relevant to what I am going through? Although this looks to be a 2nd gen owner. Thoughts from people much smarter than I am?

The consensus here is that 255/80/17 tires will fit on a stock 3rd gen just fine. I have two friends in SoCal that run those, so that's what I'll be running with eventually.

Is that on a stock suspension? My truck is also a 2018 SR5 so I am not sure if that matters.

Definitely more of a mall crawler... I don't do a ton of offroading besides riding through farm fields, but never when muddy or anything.

Yes, stock suspension from what I'm told ( here and by friends way more knowledgable than I with this stuff ). My friends eventually got lifts, one with Billstein 5100s ( 2" for mild off-roading ) and the other went more with reservoir style shocks for 3" ( far more aggressive off-roading ).

Well, I took the plunge today. Found the post for the 4Runner TRD Pro Wheels for $145 ea shipped. Then took a long hard look at what tires I wanted. I wanted a little bit of a lift from the tires. I don't really offroad much so I wanted something lighter, quiet, less aggressive, but still able to handle light offroading. Ended up going with Hankook Dynapro AT2s in size 245/75 R17 for $555 for the set of 4 from Discount Tire Direct. These should give me a 0.5" of additional height since they are 1" taller than my stock tire.

Let me know how I did... Hopefully I didn't F*** anything up! Thanks for all the help and should out to @RobP62 for all of the help.

How did you manage the free shipping part for the wheels? I just clicked on your link, added 4 wheels to my cart and they want $278.00 for shipping....uh...yeah...No thanks.

Edit: > NVM, I brain faded and didn't see that I needed to put the "MATCH" code in for free shipping up to $200.00
