D'oh! Gouge removal?

So I've decided to sell my '17 Tacoma and move on to another brand. No need for details on that, haha!

Anyways, I have a gouge in my door handle that I'd like to hear some suggestions on the best way to lessen it. It's pretty deep in part of it so I doubt it would just buff out. So I'm just looking to make it not stand out so much. Thanks in advance.

 

Buy a new one. They're pretty cheap.

Otherwise, do nothing. It's a used truck and some dents and dings are to be expected. That is pretty bad though...

Not sure which handle you need, but that's about it.

 

I would get touch-up clear coat and fill it in with few thin layers. Then, when it is dry, tape around it to make sure you don't sand too far out, and carefully sand the clear to be flush with the surrounding paint. Again, be careful not to sand too much into the existing paint - just knock down the new clear. Use a fine 1200 or so grit and polish when done.

 

I would try using a sanding block and wet sand it slowly to knock it down with something like 800 to 1000 grit. Go real slow and then once knocked down try to polish the rest out.

 

I’d sell it as is.

That is an option too. It's not horrible but it does drive me nuts since I tend to take care of my stuff, especially an automobile.

I have my handle left over from this mod (in MGM). I'm not sure it would make fiscal sense for me to send mine to you, over just buying a new one. Plus I'd have to find it.

Edit: Those are the smart handles... the "dumb" handles are cheaper... let me see if I can find the part #
