I really just want to build a beautiful paper weight.

Haha yeah. That's my budget for just hardware, not including the monitor, Os, and extras.

I still need to upgrade my desk hahaha. I'm screwed. I know I am. Good thing I'll be on mandatory OT for about the next year. It's a great crappy situation to be in. Zero (justifiable) complaints.

You’ll be happy with that setup, I have a 2600 with an RX580 and the 500 GB version of that SSD and I’m happy with my setup, with the photo and video editing I do I’ve never come close to full utilization of my rig, and I can play almost any game at 60 FPS or higher.

And this is how they get you, right?
    Screenshot_20200217-112803.jpg

For those wondering, I get 30 second intervals now and then for purge time when I'm welding. I'm actually busier than I seem. I swear haha.

If you’re dealing with purging I assume you’re welding with GTAW? We played around with purging in college but never did very much of it.

Nice!! Once I graduated with my assosciates I stopped welding for anything but fun but we had 2 guys that graduated that were good enough to do that type of work, one is working traveling welding and is making damn good money and the other joined the Air Force after his contract in the national job ran out.

Lo this the video you're talking about? The bias reviews of popular brands vs less traditional?

Yup I love my job. Always been a fabricator. Got into pipe welding. Now doing aerospace work. It's a great gig and an mentally challenging every day. Just how I like it.

Linus is good for giving his honest opinion on reviews. He's knocked Corsair around a few times.

3600MHZ is pointless, I believe jaytwocents has a vid about it.

They're the same chip basically but AMD lowered the price on the 3600X. With the better cooler included with the 3600X it's worth it to upgrade now from the 3600 if you can find the 3600X for less than the 3600 and a decent upgraded cooler.

TL;DR 3600X boosts higher due to better cooling on the included heatsink, so if the price is close like it is now go 3600X.

I watch a lot of Jay but he throws everything under either water or an AIO which isn't what most first time builders will do. He's a good reviewer but there's a reason he has to put out a correction video a couple of times a year. AMD wouldn't even send him the 3950X after he tore them a new one over MSI not telling him his X570 Godlike was a preproduction version. He's quick to make comments that don't really make sense when you step back and look at the whole picture. I hate to say it, because I love watching his videos, but he's a bit of a sell out. Just objectively check out his Corsair air cooler video and then watch LTTs, then you'll see what I mean.

Ah lol. With the Ryzen 3000 series the Infinity fabric speed is tied to the ram frequency. The optimum speed for the infinity fabric is 1800mhz, which is why they recommend 3600mhz ram with the 3000 series. Keep in mind most reviews assumed a huge difference in price at release between 3200mhz and 3600mhz ram when now it's like $5 a kit.

Looking at $35 difference between the Ryzen 5 3600 and 3600x as of now.

Yeah so you could either get the 3600 and a $35 air cooler or the 3600X and the included upgraded cooler to get the same performance. Too be honest the difference is only a couple of frames so the 3600 is the better value but to make a fair comparison you do have to consider everything in the retail box.
