I have all the parts for my 4x4 conversion. Only issue i have is i have the pushbutton transfer case. I know its much harder and possibly a headache. I cant find a thread were someone has tried to or completed the swap with the push button. Anyone ran into such thread? Id like to read into it and decide whether id like the challenge or just wait and buy the jshift

That does make a big difference. I'm pushing 285s with plus around 600 to 800 pounds after armor, rtt, tools, racks etc.

But I still question the trans running at 30° lower than coolant temps. Did you bypass the radiator? Because that actually does more to bring your trans fluid temp UP than it does to bring it down.

Yeah i bypassed it... i just didnt want to fuck with taking the trans lines off to do a radiator when the original went out

Which it did, and it was nice to just take out the 4 bolts 2 clamps and 2 hoses to the rad, didnt mess with atf everywhere like i did with my tacoma

plus i affixed the cooler to the condensor so the radiator and trans cooler are completely seperate

WTF??? I have never seen this. You have s link? Can anyone confirm this shit isn't black magic?

I'm cool with grey magic, just don't want to have to do any blood sacrifices for it... and want to make sure it'll work.

Its only 150 for the controller and auto/manual selector switches than add another 100 for a shift kit which these transmissions really need

Itll be about 300 bucks to get a nicer auto... still no 5 speed but hey

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I also ended up replacing the lock up relay valve assembly bushing (it suggests doing that in the instructions for the shift kit)

The shift kit really wasn't all that bad. Now I was able to turn my trans over and basically do it on "the bench" because I did it to the trans I swapped in before I installed the trans.

But... when I did the lock up bushing later, the trans was in the truck. To do the bushing is pretty much all of the steps of pulling and opening the valve body... so essentially I did the kit once with the trans out of the truck and once with the trans in the truck.

The Trans-go kit is really easy to follow. And they have pretty good customer service. The kit does not come with valve body gaskets, you'll need to order those. They send all of the variants of the A340 gaskets, it's pretty easy to determine which one you need to use, when you compare them.

I ordered the lock up assembly bushing from Toyota... McGeorge Toyota was 50% cheaper than my local dealer was going to charge me.

I had to drill 2 holes. The kit comes with the proper sized drill bit. And the instructions are pretty clear where to do it.

Actually... more accurately... I opened up 2 already existing holes. I did not have to drill new holes. And, if I remeber correctly, I had to remove so little material I could have ALMOST done it with my fingers turning the bit instead of with a drill. You're not actually drilling the valve body, you're drilling the plate between the upper and lower valve body.

One thing I will say about the kit. I like it overall. I think it shifts better, cleaner, etc.

But my truck is my daily... I spend time in bumper to bumper traffic. The hard shift in to 2nd was a little bit annoying in the beginning.
