BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Bought a 4 banger so that I can listen to people complain about MPG while I bask in the glory of GPH. 1/4 of a tank, left? Maybe I’ll fill it up tomorrow; probably not. 3B6D9C18-5FEB-4592-861D-CC2075ED2C4E.jpg067F682B-EEC3-44EB-8FC5-7C3890796D7D.jpg

The Rav I had was getting too small to carry us and the dogs plus our camping gear so I got the Taco. I have been nothing but happy so far.

I’m a long time toyota owner. Just sold my sienna and still have a Camry and RAV4 in the driveway. It’s the Tacoma if it’s midsized. And as I said - I have no interest in a full size truck. I’d rather get a truck that I enjoy as a daily driver and adjust my expectations for anything else. And I’m not asking anyone to make a decision for me. But by hearing other people’s motivations for getting a Tacoma despite its (real or fictional) shortcomings gives me more things to think about and more questions to ask. There’s no test drive short of a lease that’s going to let you fairly evaluate the truck in all conditions/situations so it’s nice and helpful to hear from others.

Had a 5th gen 4Runner and I knew I wanted something off-road worthy , but different. It was my first truck. Plus it fits perfectly in my garage.

Use it for daily driving and monthly hunting. If you want an off-road mid sized truck (and you need a truck) this is it. It is a little cramped inside compared to the SUVs I own, but I love it. I’m 6’1 and it’s still comfortable

True enough but I built this from just about nothing. Keeping these old aircooled cars on the road is a rewarding challenge and allot of fun. 2B5FB7C6-1933-4A63-8B23-1972BB4A9D5C.jpg

I got mine because I wanted a midsized truck that I could haul with, and it was the clear winner between it and the Fontier. I couldn't do the Ranger - Ford bit me hard with my Mk3 Focus. Total POS.

    Damn that's a cool bug.

Bought a Tacoma because they looked cool, and I didn't want a full-size truck... and Tacoma's look a hella lot better than the 1st generation honda ridgeline's.

    - My step father gave me his 2008 honda ridgeline after I got my learners permit on April 8th 2018
    - Sold the ridgeline on April 2nd 2019
    - Bought my 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport on April 6th 2019
    - Obtained my driver's license on April 8th 2019

I'm only 17 so I'm pretty sure I'm the youngest person on this thread :)

I've had several trucks: 1/10-ton Nissan, two 1/2-ton Fords, '53 Dodge, and 3/4-ton Chevy. We've had several Toyotas: '11 Corolla, '16 Camry loaner (b/c of the airbags on the '11), and '99 Japanese Camry. I needed a truck after 20 years driving a Jetta and the old Camry... while I briefly thought about a Frontier the Tacoma was a no-brainer because I knew I couldn't go wrong with another Toyota.

No plans for anything over a ~4k travel trailer and a jon boat. Bed-fulls of appliances/etc to the dump are no problem. Mileage is decent, I get 21 for the city and 26+ for the freeway though we've not yet been 2 days on the road. I don't feel it's under-powered for what I want.

No regrets other than not buying one sooner.

I'll be getting one mainly because I want the good ground clearance. Most vehicles (especially sedans) are built so dang low to the ground and I hate that. Watch any sedan closely and they just barely clear a speed bump. Even a lot of modern trucks have these obnoxious front ends that hang down real low and ruin the ground clearance. This basically ruins one of the benefits of paying the high cost $$$ of a truck.

I'm basically fed up with cars scraping the ground half the time you pull in and out of a business or gas station. So I want something beefier with some decent height for a change. I want something where you can actually take a curb slowly or get over puddles without bottoming out. Just by visually looking at them, Tacomas seem to be the best for this. And I'll be removing the air dam / barrier thingy off the bottom front.

I like that idea, I have never driven a sedan in my life but I'm always seeing people scrape even on flat roads. Let us know what you get
