Just upgraded my Taco Turd to 255/85/R16 KM3's. Totally ready to go try to NOT get stuck. Big thanks to @LadyRed for starting this forum. I've learned a hell of a lot.

Ignore the missing bumper cover...It ate a mud filled bar ditch after showing off for my kid a few months ago. Well, maybe the bar ditch ate my cover...I kind of like it better this way.

The color of your truck looks good with the stock wheels. I have a 2018 TRD quicksand DCOR 4x and the stock wheels look horribly out of place on mine.

Just pulled the trigger on a set of black SEMA wheels for $145.00 each, shipped thanks to @Tarvis ! Should be here in a week...Going to pull the trigger on a set of 245/70/17's and call it a day. Might go with 255/70's but I have a week to finger all that out so we shall see.....

    Quick question tho...Will the 255/75/17 be taller than a 245/70/17 ?

Thats the part I am still hung up on.. What number do I increase to get larger total diameter?

@TeamScream Sounds like they'll look great. As for the calculation, there's a tire size calculator on here somewhere, it's even referenced in this thread numerous times. But, no worries, it confuses the hell out of me and everyone else I'm sure. Just use this: and here's the one from TW: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc

I bought 255/85/R16 which equals 33.07" or 839.9 mm. Whereas those stock wheels are 31.65" or 803.9 mm

Wow you sound exactly like me this morning. It took me the better part of the day to understand tire sizing, and I'm still not all the way there. You would increase the middle number to increase the tire diameter. The first number is width in MM, 2nd number is some weird ass ratio that has to do with tire diameter. The third is obviously the inner diameter (diameter of your wheel).

Now to answer your question, the 255/75 17 is going to be almost 1.5" taller than a 245/70 17. I went through all of the sizing options this morning and settled on a 245/75R 17 FWIW. Got the Hankook Dyanapro AT2.

Falken AT3 at $137 per tire work well. Haven’t got stuck yet. Same wheels you mentioned

Is that in magnetic grey with the 4Runner Pro wheels as well? That is the exact color, wheel, and tire combo I am going to be running. Do you have a pic of the the whole truck?

Right, the math for the nerds is as follows,

    USING SIZE 245/75R17 FOR EXAMPLE

The maximum dimensions (width and height) of a 245/75R17 tire are

9.65” wide (section width, or first set of numbers) & 25.5” tall (outside dia)

The section width is 245mm wide (There are 25.4mm to an inch)

STEP 1) 235mm divided by 25.4” = 9.65” (section width, the widest part of the tire under load fully inflated)

*note, don't confuse this with the contact patch dimension, i.e. the measured width of the area that the tread contacts the ground)

STEP 2) Multiply 9.25 (section width) by .75 (aspect ratio)

    9.65 x .75 = 7.23” (this is the sidewall height)

Then to find the total, inflated (not under load) tire diameter you would multiply 7.23" x 2 then add rim diameter (17")

    STEP 3) 7.23” x 2 = 14.5” + 17.0” = 31.46” round out to 31.5” (outside dia)

I actually like this calculator because it will also help you understand what the different offset and wheel width does to a tire. Meaning, pulling it in, or pushing it out.

Thanks brother, as I mentioned, I pulled the trigger on the wheels thanks to your link! Cheapest i was able to find them closer to me was $20+ per wheel more, so I went with your place.

Now as far as tires are concerned, thanks to @Blue5001 , I am using the tacomaworld tire size calculator to see overall diameters and widths, which is making this a little bit easier. Now the hard part is finding the tires I want at a price that makes sense. I am leaning more towards the 245/70/17 as well as this thread and this guys pics look exactly how I would like my truck to look. I have no desire to embark down the black hole of lift and suspension right now, as I know I wouldn't be happy spending a few grand unless I walked out side every morning and saw King remote reservoirs hanging under the wheel wells, so fack that for now....

This thing looks fantastic on 245/70/17's for sure.... Fills the wheel wells just fine and looks aggressive enough for the occasional off road fling for me....

FTFY (although in your defense, you did look at these tires)
Also, he is running the 265/70R17's which are not exactly skinny.

Ok here is the million dollar question for those running the Falken WildPeaks A/T3W's

That tire comes in load range C, which is what I am assuming @SpeySquatch is running since he only paid $137.00/tire, but they also come in load range E, and they are roughly $30.00/tire more.

Is there a significant difference in durability with the E rated tire vs the C rated tire? Anyone here running the E rated Wildpeak?

What about NVH differences between the 2 ?

Nope. I’m just running the 4-ply basic SL.
Load range C is 6-ply which is more than enough if not overkill for trail riding. Load range E is 10-ply, is super stiff and rough ride, but made for sharp rocks and crawling etc. I have yet to get a hole in a 4-ply that wasn’t caused by debris or hardware on the highway.
I have even run 4-ply on some mild lava rock stone and was fine (not that I would recommend that)

    So you've decided to go with a 265 instead of a 245 ?
