OME EL095R Leafs popping when turning

Hi All,

I installed EL095R leafs about 10k miles ago and they just started making loud popping noises. I noticed it when pulling into a parking spot at work. Driving home I thought it was my front right but after a closer inspection everything was in order up there, I just started shaking the truck back and forth and I heard the noise again from the rear right.

I've researched this a bit and I've found a few things... Some suggest that the bushing is seized and it's popping whenever it flexes, some say that the leaf pads are missing so the leafs are sticking together and popping when they flex enough.

Does anyone have this problem?

Any suggestions are gladly accepted.

EDIT: If it is the bushings... will this work as a greaseable replacement?

Im pretty sure I had the same issue. While turning I would hear clunking and thought it was the front end. Took it to a shop near me and they lathered my OME leafs with boat grease and all noises, regular leaf squeaking and the clunking sound, went away. In my case the bushings weren’t the issue

 

Good to know! Sounds like I'll be pulling some leafs this weekend...

 

Yeah might as well give that a shot before dropping a pretty penny on some bushings that may or may not fix the problem haha

 

No issues with mine just a squeek here and there. I got used to it. I do offroad my truck if that helps. Maybe try re-torquing everything down including the u bolts.

 

Yeah I have squeaking too, I've learned to live with it. A loud pop is just a little disconcerting

 

I'd be concerned too. Let us know if/when you figure it out.

Edit:
- What brand of bushings did you use for the eyelets?
- Did you lube those liberally when installing?
- What type of lube/grease did you use?

Another possibility; the leaf is hitting the shackle.
