So glad I work in a fleet environment, not flat rate shop. Warranty labour times are the worst. I see labour estimates for warranty repairs on equipment and laugh.

Most people don't have a reason to lie. Maybe it was a young tech, maybe not. Maybe he just didn't train the tires. If the tech said they were "marked" he would be an idiot not to rotate them, whether they were marked or not.

WTF? You’re a douche if the customer is told that a multi-point inspection is done and you don’t do it. That is dishonest. If they don’t pay you for it get a new fucking job.

It's getting fucking bad man. I'm one certification away from a senior master, so I'm going to suck it up until then, but afterwards, I'm going to look how to get out of dealership life.

I always decline the free car wash and multipoint inspection. Just change my oil and let me get out.

Do not peek in my glove department, unlatch my engine air filter, or top off my fluids.

The new dealer in Prosper TX you can watch your car get worked on. Some other dealers same way.

Not dishonest. I dont mark the multipoint. That's out of my hands at that point. What the advisor says is on them.

Yea, the multi-point inspection thing is crap. The guys up front hype it up to the customer and make it sound like a great value added service.

I've never seen one done accurately.

But, who is at fault? The tech or the writer?

I always check air filters and top the washer fluid off though. That's about all the free shit I'll do. Also, I bought my truck from them lol.

If they pay, they get done right. I used to do them when I got paid for them. Not anymore though.

Also, did I tell you it would be done? No. So again, not dishonest.

Techs are on commission. If they are not getting paid for it, probably not getting done. It's unfair to expect someone to work for free.

I'm not talking hourly wage plus commission, talking STRAIGHT commission. Do you guys clock out at work, and then work the last hour for free? Didn't think so.

That's not a customer problem, you work for a company that doesn't want to pay you for work they are telling people you are doing.

I guess all I can add to this is

Good communication between the Service Advisor, the Tech, and Customer helps tremendously.
Even better when all 3 parties have even the slightest knowledge of work being preformed.

I’ll be on my way now, after all we are almost 7 pages deep now. :argue:

I get it but the dealership is being dishonest and that’s why they get such a bad rep.

They also get a bad rep because of all the all around shitty customers. We're people too. People make mistakes.

Most people just understand that MPI are a fucking joke. Most customers I do work for, couldn't care less about them. That's how it needs to be.

I could never be a service advisor at a dealer. Those guys will sell grandmas new rotors and pads with 50% life left. Unfortunately they get paid on how much bullshit they can sell. Will screw over their own family they don't care.

Hell no! I'd get fired immediately. All these indignant ass customers that expect free stuff because the industry doesn't have a backbone.
