I originally planned on installing on-board air and hard mounting either a viair or ARB compressor. Once the time came I decided that something portable made more sense for me, plus I already had the MF-1050 compressor that I pulled from my old rig and the ammo can.

I pulled the compressor apart, gave it a good servicing, and did a couple mods (re-wired with 10 gauge, good cable clamps, and a few other things to make it fit in the can).

Under the hood I shortened the mount holding the main wiring harness to get it closer to the firewall to give me a little bit more room.

Here's what I ended up with...

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
You should figure out a method to eliminate that top strap so all you need to do is pop the cam lock on the ammo box to open it. Like weld a couple rings on the sides of the can right where the threaded rods are so the wing nuts can stay on unless you want to pull the whole box.

Yeah, not a bad idea... I wanted to keep it simple, plus it’s not something that I’ll use that frequently, so this should do.

ARE canopy with sliding screened windoors and rhino roof track, Warn semi-hidden winch mount with VR 10 winch, nightrider 28" single row LED lightbar, Hood scoop light bar, Anytime front and rear cameras. anytime Navigation switch, plug-in oil pan heater, plug-in block heater, plug-in battery blanket. WINTER: Snow Sport plow with back-drag modification, Bridgestone Blizzak DM V2 on steelies 265-70-17.
I'm gonna do the same thing. I was looking for a place to keep my winch remote under the hood also since I have to pop the hood to operate the winch anyway.

Look under your hood, the Sport models have something in that space

    Just an update on this.

I noticed condensation buildup on the inside of the box so I drilled 2 holes on the bottom to prevent that.

Other than that, this has been very handy to have around.

This is a cool project, looks awesome! Just some advice from my install: connecting the hose that close to the manifold may melt your hose over time. You can see in my pics where I originally connected the rubber hose close to the compressor manifold and then the next pic is a little overkill, but solved the issue. I would just recommend extending further from your manifold and maybe adding a bulkhead fitting to the outside of your can for a quick hose hook up if you like that idea.

Thanks for the feedback! This is designed to be portable, the air hose will never be used where it's currently mounted - the entire box lifts out and it gets put onto the ground when in use.
