Any PC Builders Out There?

So what are the top newbie mistakes I'm going to make along the way? Haha

 

Brand doesn't matter. It used to, only certain ram used to work with Ryzen boards, but now almost all of them do. I mean if you can buy QVL list ram (check the motherboard manufacturer product page for this) but it's not necessary to do this like it was when Ryzen first came out.

Make sure to get as much RGB as possible. RGB is like stickers on a truck. The more lights, the moar powah.

 

Bend a CPU pin, don't push the ram in far enough, forget to plug in the CPU fan... a million ways to fail to post lol.

 

So what are the light bar in truck equivalents? I need me some of that level action.

 

That's modified cases. The more windows and ways to see your glorious RGB the better.

I personally like to download all the drivers ahead of time to a USB. Like grab the and driver for the goi, go to the motherboard page and download all the drivers (lan driver, sound, chipset, ECT). And I grab the latest bios version and flash it .

Same I make a windows 10 bootable USB installer with the latest version.

I install everything and then boot into bios the first time. Make sure everything is detected (like all 16gb of ram). Then change boot order for the USB to install Windows 10.

Things are much more plug n play then they used to be so it's usually something minor if it's not working right

 

This is the next level action.

Yeah I saw Jay dropped that today. His ears must of been burning lol. I really do like his videos but I see his massive character flaw that will keep his business from growing as large as LTT or Gamers Nexus.

How far is microcenter? One big advantage with them is that the often will let you bundle your processor and motherboard for a discount. Usually about $20-$30 off.

 

Either buy a builders key from a reputable online store or buy a likely stolen OEM key from a grey area store like Kinguin. Either way when you do the first install don't enter your key, just bypass that screen (there is an option in the bottom corner of that window). Then once your computer is up and working enter your key. If you buy a key from somewhere like Newegg or Microcenter it'll activate without any problems. If you buy a key from Kinguin you may need to call the code in which is a bit of a pain but easy enough.

 

Windows 10 is free. Download from windows site, not some 3rd party. If it works on your system and you want to get rid of water mark on desktop, then buy it. But is not required and is on the up and up.

Don't forget accidently switching the polarity switch on the power supply.

 

That's totally an option though I hate the watermark so I always just buy grey market Pro keys for like $30 a piece. Microsoft doesn't care.
