    I remember a tall LT from the 18th named Biggs I think. I can see faces but can't think of any names right off. Got a coin from CSM Du. One of the things we did in samarra was the TCPs and got into a big fire fight.

    Yeah, Biggs was one the PL’s (ours) and later the Co commander for our second tour. What unit where you? You with the guys with the D9 that tore down the house in Samara?

    Du was the BDE CSM, that dude was awesome.

    We were fielding DCU’s at the time (precursor to the ACU but desert) and we had a lot of outside unit leadership telling us they were unauthorized. His brief was to tell those mother fucker to fuck off and come talk to me. :rofl:

    Yeah I really liked Du, lot of respect for him. That was us with the up armored D9. Thought Biggs was a good dude, glad to got a company.

    I used to live right next to Hunter-Liggett when I was a kid

    after an exercise finished i would ride my horse through there and pick up all manner of gear. my father took several pieces of commo gear back to units one time.
    shit I found:
    a case of brand-new m16 magazines
    CVC helmets, all the time. i found a flight helmet once, but it was all fucked up
    a foil pack of hoffman devices. dad re-possessed them and we set them off for the 4th
    ponchos, poncho liners, a shitty green canvas sleeping bag
    a black gore-tex parka
    i found a box of smoke grenades and flares once. probably because nobody was allowed to use them. army and national guard units would start fires all the time

    Small world! I spoke with him several times. He had some CRAZY stories about his time in Vietnam. He was telling a story once about an AC-130 rolling to avoid a SAM...spent brass went all over the place and they had a few crew injuries but survived. He said the plane was red X'ed and then torn apart for training/parts. Great story teller.
