What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

New stock housings with some fresh halogen bulbs would be my vote

 

I haven't had them long enough but time will tell on that. I am actually not too worried about it. Several folks are running these SS3s now and no one in @crashnburn80 fog light thread has mentioned any RFI issues from the emitters.

I'll let you know if I hear anything new on the CB or Ham.

 

I have yet to even have run a light that wasn't halogen that didn't emit RF. One can always hoped. Mine are in the mail.

Which ones did you get?

If there is some RFI, it may be of little consequence, at least on my truck. It may be since they are pretty wrapped in the steel bumper, plus below both ground planes, additional squelch may not be necessary. As I said, time will tell.

 

Same as you. Thought about the pros, but would prefer the sharper cut off. Really just want them for driving in the damn snow out here. So if I can fit them on the DD cleanly I will haha but otherwise I'll wait for the 2 LED version and still get a pair of S1s for ditch lights. Should work great for deer and reading the snowy roads in bad conditions. Which I do all the time.

 

I thought long and hard about getting the pros. They do look amazing. But in the end I decided against it. It was not the additional cost so much as it was the heat they produce. I worried a little that heat could cause degradation in the long run. And then the was the RFi factor we spoke about. The higher output emitters could result in more noise.

 

Possibly. Wasn't worried about heat myself. But didn't like the wider spread so yeah. I like the tighter pattern. Nothing pisses me off more then driving home at 11pm after a 14hr day with some asshole with some rando LED pod just blinding the shit out of me in the fog light position haha didn't want to be that guy.

 

What would cause the truck not to start in Park when it fires up no problem in Neutral?

 

Neutral safety switch.

I had the same issue after I dunked mine in deep water. I was able to just clean the contacts.

When you say you cleaned the contacts... Did you use something like an electronics contact cleaner?

Yes. Took the plug off sprayed/scrubbed the gunk out. I might've removed the whole assembly and cleaned it, but it's been a few years.
