So I’ve got the somewhat standard squealing speedo on cold morning’s. Truck has about 200k and I just replaced both e brake cables within the last few months so I figure it’s time to replace the speedo cable as well. My local NAPA can’t get me one so does anyone know a good source for a quality part? Anyone have any luck lubricating their old squealing cable?

Just bought the truck a few months back and so far I love it. She’s pearl white with the brown interior and she’s in great shape. I love the bench seat and the 5 speed manual transmission.

Mine does the same thing. Its a pain in the butt to replace and expensive. OEM from the dealer is your only option.

If it's got 200K on it may as well replace it and be ahead

a few other posts indicated the oem part was about $80. Not exactly dirt cheap but doesn’t sound too bad. Another member mentioned it took about an hour to replace. Is this standard or is he a wizard?

No way it was done in an hour. speedo cluster has to come out at least, the dash probably has to come out too. The cable is thick and cant be easily snaked through inaccessible areas.

I might be wrong as i haven't done it myself yet. I looked into it, and replaced the speedo cable on my sisters miata and decided i was just going to deal with the noise. Mine only does it till she warms up.
