Just put 235/85/16's on my 2018. This has been my go-to size across several trucks now, and the Taco swallowed them without a hitch. They almost look small on the truck. They were a good but snug fit on my '03 Taco as well as my 70 series Cruiser. I stuck with Kumho Road Venture MT's, which last amazingly well and are basically silent on the road.

Can you post up a couple pics so we can see what 235/85/16 looks like? Looks to be just shy of 33" on the tire calc.....would love to see a pic for reference.

So this is interesting. I am comparing the Falken WIldpeak A/T3W in 235/80/17 against the same tire in a 245/75/17, as they are both comparable in major diameter, yet obviously the 235/80 is skinnier by almost half an inch and taller by almost half an inch. The bummer is that the 235 appears to only come in a load range E1, whereas the 245/75 comes in an SL load rating.

I am not sure what the "1" is in the "E1" load range rating, so if anyone has a hint I can buy, I am all ears. The last thing I want to do is end up with Fred Flinstone rock hard tires that rattle my teeth everywhere I go, so it looks like the right call is the 245/75/17 if I want a reasonably compliant tire for daily use....

    Thoughts?

I would install before that way if for example you have a tire balancing issue you can solve that first. Rather than wondering if something in your suspension install did not get put together right.
Change one thing at a time easier to test and troubleshoot...

Sure - I meant to and didn't get around to it. The cell phone distorts things but this gives you an idea. Stock truck, unlifted. SR model. There is plenty of room for full 33's, or even probably 35's in there. The shadows make the wheel well look a lot "fuller" than it really is.

Man, those are sweet. They sing like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, I'll bet. Do they come in a radial? I think those are all bias, aren't they?

Hey RocTaco great post about tires! I think you are exaclty right on the calculation between P-metric and LT tires. I would just change the starting point and how you calculate. I would base your load carrying capacity on max vehicle weight with max payload and not on what pressure is in the P-metric tire. The reason is because most OEM tire pressures are higher than they need to be for better handling not for vehicle weight. It can throw off your calculation because P-metric tires have max load at much lower pressures making you think that you need that much load carrying capacity in your LT tires. Let me know if this doesnt make sense and I will try to do a better job explaining myself.

So if you look at the 2020 Tacoma Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 5600lb to the 35psi in your LT265/75/16 AT3's it is overkill at 6,800lbs.

It happened today. No problem fitting and aligning 255/85R16s on the stock suspension. The Coopers are way more quiet than expected. 33s feel really nice on the highway with the Nitro 4.88 gears. Next up; OME suspension lift.

Thank you so much. Are those steelies 7" wide? or are they actually 8" ?

You know, I don't know - they're the stockers that came on it. I bet it would be easy to look up. I bet 7" - the steelies have always been 16x7 for most of these vehicles across the brand. (Not counting early Land Cruisers or the FJ Cruisers).
