I posted about him being a fool on the front page of ESPN, and you ran to his defense. Who has a hard on for him?

NCAA will find a way to ruin it. There’s no money in it for them.

I look at it from a student perspective, and wish I had had the ability to transfer and take my scholarship on a whim with me, but as soon as I chose one school the other doors slammed shut with no full scholarship opportunities.

I didn't run to his defense, I ran to prove you wrong for not knowing the truth lol.

I couldn't care less where he ends up or plays.

Generally speaking, the players transferring also aren’t your big time commits / difference makers (unless you’re UGA..). I don’t have an issue with it one bit.

LOL OKAY. Get me a ticket to that candy land.

The one where you don’t know that he has no leverage because he has no nfl experience, but clearly you won’t let anything Burrow-negative go because you’re one dense dude about him, so I’ll let it go. You win. He’s the best draft prospect ever and should be made commissioner.

While it may be considered "leverage" by some, his potential owner/boss/manager will see it as being "hard to work with". Since Joe Burrow, or any college player has yet to prove themselves, claiming you wont sign somewhere is honestly just taking your ball and going home like a brat. This process would work, if Joe Burrow were the ONLY QB with top notch skills and capabilities in the first round or the entire draft.

Since he is NOT the only top level QB, his leverage is diminished.
Since top rated QB's from college dont always equate to top level NFL QB's, his leverage is diminished further.
Add a pissy attitude and it diminishes further.

Comparing Joe Burrow to Eli Manning is a laugh. Not in ability or quality, simply in status. Joe Burrow doesn't come from a family loved by the NFL. Eli Manning could afford to act like a brat, mainly because his father and brother had behaved and performed admirably before him.

Individual players DONT have much leverage, at all, see: Colin Kaepernick.

That's why they have a Player's Union...to gang together and combine power/leverage against their owner/company.

Yes, it could be called leverage, if you like the guy. @stronghammer

Otherwise, its just an immature, cheap negotiating move that gets a little press, blows a few smokescreens and potentially puts a bad taste in the mouths of other teams.

Who was the last number 1 NFL Drafted QB to win a Superbowl?

As far as transfers go...I think any athlete should be allowed to transfer at anytime for any reason....ONCE. That's it.

One Transfer, immediate eligibility, no questions asked.

    Yep. Fuck it. Why not?

Shit changes so fast for these players sometimes, and they should have some control of how they want to deal with those changes without losing eligibility.

Their eligibility shouldn't be hindered because a coach took a different job, or there is an underlying issue or hidden agenda, etc that the player has no control over.

If players have to sit out a year when they switch schools, then coaches should have to sit out a year if they take a new job.

I know. But I dont want my statements to come off like I hate Joe Burrow, because I don't. Dude balled out. Honestly he was super humble almost all season long, which I loved. I loved it for LSU, I loved it for him.

He did start to let the success get to him though and his attitude changed. He got cocky, and it seems that is carrying over to his promotion. It may be a good thing to have, I dont know. Maybe he can harness it and use it for insane play in the NFL.

The player probably needs to state why they are transfering, however. Because if there is some shady shit going on or they just want to be coached by someone else, that is important information that can help the NCAA better serve the athletes they profit so enormously off of.

I am all for kids not being locked into a university for 4 years but I can only see this creating a disaster within the NCAA..it's literally going to be free agency and major programs poaching kids out of mid majors.
