If price is a big enough issue to avoid 4x4 when you think you might want it look into lower trims.

They make an SR with DCSB V6 with 4x4. Which for my money is great value. You don’t get a hood scoop or lockers, but they MSRP thousands under the TRDs and still have cruise control, power windows, big screen, etc.

ko2s did great on the snow and ice packed roads as well some slightly deeper stuff. They are rated for severe conditions supposedly. However my new duratracs are even better especially in the deep stuff. Ko2s are better in the dessert but the duratacs have the edge in the mud and snow I’ve found.

Born in Colorado, lived in California for 12 years. They are both beautiful places, but would choose CA over CO every day of the week. Snowboarding and surfing in the same day is truly an amazing experience.

I was born in Northern California, about an hour out of San Francisco; I love NorCal, and I still have family there. I love to visit but would never want to live there! The high cost of living is the biggest part, and the strict rules regarding smog testing are a close second!

We don't have to drive far too use it. And sometimes it's the only way to reach the spots the others post or new adventures

You need it. Just do it. I sold my 2wd tacoma for a 4x4 OR... best decision ever.

Isn't moving to Portland Oregon like jumping in the same lake?

4wd! I wouldn’t even consider a 2wd truck. Just my opinion though. It pays for itself the first time you realize 2wd isn’t enough and you switch to 4wd drive and keep going without even challenging the truck.

The last time I bought a truck it was a 2wd and even though I wouldn’t use 4wd very often, I always wished I had purchased the 4wd. My most recent purchase was a TRD OR 4X4 ... no regrets! Also ... mine is my daily driver.
