I have not had a chance to check anything out, not opposed to checking out your trail, worse case scenario my back up cam gets a work out.

If you want to meet up at Andies Variety - 1625 Atlantic Hwy, Warren, ME 04864 pick up a coffee, etc.. the trail leads from mountain RD. in warren to Union, Me... theres a few offshoots to that trail one I know of leads back to Rt90, fairly mild with teh exception of one NASTY mudhole (think submurged 32" tires, possibly frozen at this time) along with a nice 2-3 ft drop off.. the other offshoot is a little longer, and leads back to Rt90, but has some nasty off camber DEEP ruts. another offshoot leads up Meadow Mtn. and has a fantastic view the trail itself is ROCKY 1-2' rocks, and some steep incline sections (this would be a good hike at this point with ice & snow...whatnot) worst case i can take you out on this trail, it doesnt work out, or too short, I can take you to some local areas for some good pictures (scenic sites in the area, (Marshall point lighthouse (famed turn around point in "Forrest gump" running accross USA, Rockland Breakwater (nearly 1/2 mile of hand laid stone into rockland harbor).. would hate to have you make a trek up here for what I believe would be a 1 hour max trail ride (the offshoots I mention I would be hesitant to take my tacoma on, worse case we see some bad spots that just dont look like a good idea, we turn around..)
    MAP1.jpg

    MAP3OVERVIEW.jpg
havent riden this one in a while, its an old quarry pit area, and have not had issue in the past, i typically ask the operator on site if they mind, typically they dont care..
    MAP2.jpg

I know NH has a lot more local trails in the Epsom area that I rode last Saturday 15th with New England Wheelers (took us about 3 hours to do them all) I have them mapped on Gaia, and they were very mild trails (stock friendly)... it would take me roughly 3 hours to get to Epsom, NH... so let me know which you would like to do.

I would not mind checking out the Epsom area. It would actually cut my drive in half.

    O.O

I am actually going up to Portland on Saturday, unfortunately leaving Providence around 10AM though so probably the timing is off. Coming back leaving Portland around noon Sunday to go back south. But, let me know if anything comes to fruition and I'll see if I can make do. :D

I am thinking the stock friendly stuff is the way to go, because walking out of the woods this time of the year would not be fun.

ill snag a screenshot of the GAIA map when I get home (working late, til 9:30-ish) be home around 10pm... we met up last time in the McDonalds back parking lot in Epsom, NH trailhead was roughly 2 miles from there.... Weather looks good Sunny w/ highs of 44, lows of 22, and winds 5-10MPH... I would like to get in earlier than later.. we started off around 15:30hrs, and finnished the trails aroun 6pm. (it has snowed since then, so trails may be a bit more difficult, w/ higher snowbanks at starts/finnishes), and I didnt make it back home until 11:45pm (stopped for dinner, and gas fill up)... So if We could meet up around 11:00 (air down), and head out at 1200 that would be ideal for me.

errrghhh, wifey just reminded me of a home event. so may have to push this event back an hour or two... would like to be back in Maine at 5pm (Epsom is a 3+/-hour drive rt202-rt4-95-295-rt1 back to my home) .. so if possible could we start a bit earlier? say meet up at 10am? and on the road to trails by 11, otherwise I can send someone else the map, and I can jet out a bit early.. hate to do this, but happy wife, happy life....

Stockie friendly? I can do Saturday meeting at 10 or 1030 or so. Not sure I can do that time Sunday.

ima be a huge PITA and feel free to tell me no. I have zero two way radios (I can probably pull that off by then), zero recovery gear, no air pump, nada. So, feel free to tell me to bow out if I’ll be a drag on the plans.

This trail is stock friendly, only issue we had was one Cherokee got in an off camber position front passenger side on a snowbank, drivers wheel in a ditch.. and the rear passenger lifted up... no lockers, so he spun... I had my shovel, and we dug out some of the snowbank, and he made it through easily.

However I am only able to make it out on Sunday's due to my regular work schedule.. I highly recommend getting a tow shackle for your hitch, and at least 20ft strap, or kinetic rope.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CVF3XRdTInxgUnKQxFZeflhk9B4t9k0/view?usp=drivesdk here's the map file. And the entrance for the first trail was kettle rock road 11 miles from mcdonalds..

I have 2 air pumps,, 1 is a jump pack/air pump, and works well with stock sized tires.. and the other is my Viair 88p, and works FAST, but not very accurate for a guage on it. need to pick myself up a handheld guage.. kind of a pain to use my air down tool to check pressures..

I carry both CB, and a Baofeng UV-5R+ (highly recommend this, for $35 its worth it, it allows you access to GMRS/FRS frequencies, as well as HAM frequencies, and if you get into it you can learn your local fire/PD frequencies, and use it as a scanner.) if you need it, I carry my windows 10 ASUS tablet/keyboard, and can program it using CHIRP My channel listing names all chanels for FRS/GMRS (plus a few of my local PD/Fire/EMS, and local repeaters..) but please look into getting your license for HAM/GMRS, FRS frequencies can be used without a license.

I have a locker. Trd OR stock.

This is sort of last minute, I have plans for a lot of the stuff listed including a cb, but mostly loading up this spring and just came across this thread o_O just won't have time to pull off a lot before then. I'm planning on a hard wired OBA setup.

    I can do Sunday.

See you then. I Highly recommend a Baofeng, or a midland hard wired FRS/GMRS radio. first items I would get is a radio/CB, air down tool, and an air compressor. had a guy on last trip with a stock trd pro, i aired him down to 24psi and he did well. I didnt even use my locker.... You are going about it the right way though, go on a few trips, see what others use, and sloly build your arsenal.. I'm constantly working on my storage solutions.. currently looking at building a full length wooden drawer for the drivers side with space up front for fuel/gas. and 3-4 Plano 56Qt storage totes ( https://www.amazon.com/Plano-1619-0...1ENQNZ9KDB0&psc=1&refRID=F4VEDT5HR1ENQNZ9KDB0 ) that will slot into the top of the drawer box.. drawer will be roughly 6 inches tall (for quick access recovery gear, stove storage (camp chef Everest) and to use as a cook station/tabletop), and use HD polypropelene for the sliders with a full extension stop. other side will have spots for 2-3 Jerrycans of fuel/water, and full height for my cooler (lifetime 75Qt).

When i started all i had was decent AT tires, a 1 burner butane stove, some FD meal packs from walmart (not bad, but not great), and a baofeng radio. and a basic mess kit.. little over a year later now I have a RTT, and about 200lbs of gear/fuel cans, tools, etc... you'll find out quick what works for you.. and a tacoma is big enough to pack a lot, but you do need to be selective on weight. once you get near payload they tend to get a little sluggish, and you can feel it in the braking...

Thanks for the run through! Yeah, I was planning to have at least something before I went on trips but, this one came across by chance for me soooo here we are :p My plan for comms is something relatively easy to put on/take off (in my mind, a ditch light antenna mount is an easy on/off), since I won't be using it 95% of the time. But, like I said this trip came up hot so I'm a little unprepared (and as said, feel free to tell me no if y'all think having my unprepared hot mess will be a problem!)

we'll be good, TRD OR has a tw point in front. I went with a mag mount CB antenna (nor now, but it keeps getting ripped off by branches.. probably going to grab one of the crossbars off my RTT to mount the antennae to to get it lower.. I'll have a hand saw, splitting axe, and shovel, and regular recovery gear (30ft strap, hard, and soft shackles, hitch adapter) winch bumper is on order from SSO.. so no winch, yet....
