KYB Monomax shocks, LCE Headers and Exhaust. Hi Flo cat, deck mod/KN Filter..
hey peeps.. i'm new to the forum.. my name is Alf.. i just bought a 1997 Taco this evening.. 2.4L stock truck ...

back in 1995 i purchased a brand new Tacoma when it first came out. It was a 96 and I babied it.. i read a mini truckin magazine article about a company named E.L. Prototypes and on a whim i followed the address in Baldwin Park and met Eric, the owner.. i ended up being the second person to own all of his stuff at the time which was an intake, overbored TB, Match ported intake manifold and chip.. i also ended up getting a stage 3 kevlar clutch custom built by clutchmasters at the time and i was running a 75 shot of NOS.. this was way back in like 98.. anyhow.. i ended up shaving the whole truck, lowering on DJM suspension, and topped it off with Blitz Type 03 , 3-piece JDM baller wheels... my truck was dope.. sold it cuz i had a kid.. now.. i drive a modded out g35 coupe and i just bought the taco as a daily.. was thinkin about getting some breather mods but i cannot find E.L. Prototypes ...????

i haven't run a search yet... but any suggestions...???

    thankx...

    Alf

they didn't have these cool car/truck internet forums when i modded out my tacoma... this makes things easier..

i have been reading up on this mod.. i ordered a 4" deck plate yesterday already.. haha

even though my taco is my daily, i can't help but do some stuff to it.. i've already ordered some bilstein shocks, rotors, and pads... i installed a radio, bluetooth, speakers, alarm, power door locks and i just got home from buying a leer camper shell.. i'm an electrician so i need this truck for work and a single cab doesn;t have a ton of room.. i also picked up some stock 98 steelies and perfect hubcaps... i love this truck all over again...

Don't forget the drop in air filter for your deck plate mod. I'd go with an afe dry filter. Easier to clean.

Other than easier to clean, are there any advantages of getting the afe over the k & n.?? I know it's just an intake, but I have a very similar mod on my g35, and I already have a k & n drop in that I have to clean, so I already have the cleaning kit..

Well... no. The k&n actually has a very very slightly higher air flow. However, you don't have to oil the AFE. A few people here have over oiled the k&n and messed up there MAF sensors. So, most people here prefer not to worry about it and get the AFE.

the over oiling of the k & n seems to be an issue on a lot of vehicles i guess.. that is a problem for some people on the g35 also... the maf sensors don't like oil.. hmm.. the AFE is almost double the price of the k & n... what to do........
