Isn’t that what I want right there, I’m not sure I’m reading it right or understanding the instructions, what does “turning the engine switch to the “LOCK” position mean exactly?

Btw, looks like I’m being a dumbass, I did cancel the park unlocking doors function earlier on first attempt, but now I can’t seem to change anything, mainly reversing it, as in having the doors unlock when put into park

    DUH!

And it’s confirmed, the drivers door handle will unlock all doors, so long as it is opened within 10 seconds of turning the car off.

You’re the man caribe makaira, very helpful, reading up on the oem lock...

Thanks man. I get it. People have different needs. I can see, for example, some kind of contractor who uses his truck as a work vehicle, and as such, every time he gets out of his truck, he pretty much needs to go into the back through the tailgate. So he would need it to unlock when he gets out of the truck. Makes perfect sense. For me though, I am the opposite, in that I use my truck as a personal vehicle and almost never need to get in the back. For me, it just did not make sense to have the tailgate constantly locking and unlocking. My video was also meant to show that there is an alternative for those who wanted a switch to lock/unlock the tailgate.

OP, since you have an AccessCab, the rear door connector to the unlock/lock solenoid of the door would be unused/un-terminated. I don't know how far the harness is incomplete, but I'm willing to guesstimate that on both kick panels in the cab the harness is available to tap into.
Does your SR5 have this connector on the Passenger's side kick panel?

    upload_2020-2-14_8-30-18.jpg
If it does and it has the wires in the rear but none in the front (view-able side) then crimping some terminals to the tailgate solenoid harness and inserting them (after removing the connector and releasing the locking bar to the terminals) into the IL3 connector would work also.

I don’t know yet, it’ll be a few days until I’ll have time to investigate, might not happen till Monday, I’ll take it apart to look and maybe snap a few pics.

Now I’m afraid you just spoke Greek to me

So, as far as I’ve got into that thread it looks like the OEM does work with a 2017 and it is plug and play, correct?

Now, I will have to first do the keyless entry mod, then do the power tailgate, does the keyless entry mod type I do matter? Honestly I’ve been reading so much on all these things I don’t even remember if there were different options for the keyless entry mod

IL3 is a connector on the passenger's side kick panel. It goes to the "regular" rear door your access cab does not have. If it is present in your vehicle it may be un-terminated on the side that goes to the rear, but should have the pins coming from the control system side. So you could crimp the correct terminals on the tailgate solenoid to then insert them there for unlock/lock function.

My google translate just quit and left... lol

Ok, I think I understand you now, though if I were to do that, I’d need help to pull it off, I’d need to translate “crimp correct terminals” lol. I do have friends that I’m sure knows exactly what you’re talking about
Só, you’re pretty knowledgeable about this, I gotta ask, what advantages are you seeing doing it this way as opposed to the regular installation?

I’ve placed an order for the following two items. The tailgate lock ordering process asked for a VIN so they can confirm fit, I left blank afraid they’d say does not fit since it’s 2017 ‍♂️, haven’t got an order confirmation yet, but I placed it last night.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Key...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Só, now I was wondering if a key like this could be programmed to the system above?

Well the Tailgate lock comes with a T connector, so you're fine.
My suggestion was in case you were going the do-it-yourself or even the Pop-N-Lock, which leaves the end wires T-tapped by 3M type to the passenger door harness connector.

The remote lock kit comes with 2 fobs. But it may accept programming an additional one, or substituting one. It says it's meant for Toyota. There may be more info in the instructions...let us know when you get it.

For the keyless entry system. You should contact @KTJO 4x4 for a modified IC1 connector, so you don't cut that part.
    upload_2020-2-15_23-13-50.jpg
For the other connectors you'll be tapping into I have no assistance to prevent cutting (T-taps) into the OEM harness...

Ah, gotcha, yeah I decided to go with the OEM one, a bit more money but so worth it based on what I read, glad I started this thread, that was a great suggestion!

I did not order that key yet, I believe it’s a replacement for the original key fob, I’m sure a locksmith can cut the key, but uncertain if the fob functions can be programmed to the keyless system I ordered, I’m also still waiting on Meso’s key release

So, I begin to disassemble the truck to do the keyless install and first thing I notice was this guy
    F1FD5A0B-0107-49D0-91AF-31223CAF88A3.jpg
Looks pretty much like the one in the kit I just bought(haven’t even opened the bag yet), so I stopped here and decided to investigate further, grabbed a flashlight and sure enough there’s a module already installed to the dash brace

So, what do I do here? I bought this truck used from private owner and they told me no keyless fob, just gave me 2 regural keys

I have never programmed a key before, but I’d assume the buttons would have to be programmed to the receiver, no? The instructions only shows using the actual key part into the ignition, but is it really all you have to do, after that the receiver “recognizes” the button functions of the fob?
