I mean I find my 6 foot box equally useless as my buddies dcsb. Still have to leave the tail gate down if you want to haul anything bigger than a kids toy box.

Actually, I was there week before last. I drove my elderly parents to San Antonio to see my nephew(their grandson) graduate from Air Force Basic at Lackland. My dad graduated their in 1960 so he was pretty thrilled. My nephew went in to the Reserves but Basic is the same as full enlist.

We considered it for sure. It's significantly more money here in Canada. Love the 4Runner for what it is, but I'd prefer a Tacoma.

Being accomplished in snide doesn’t negate the usefulness of bed extenders.

Sounds like a DCSB will work for you unless you want to get a camper shell and sleep in the bed. Unless you're about 5 ft. tall.

I originally was long before all the way and hadn’t really considered a short bed at all. I ended up buying a short bed. I created a list of pros and cons of each. In the end the short bed won for me. It’s my daily driver so having a smaller vehicle was a huge plus. better off road capability/shorter wheel base. Can load motorcycles fine with tailgate down and even safely tow my travel trailer with the tail gate fully down if needed.

I’m very happy and don’t regret the short box one bit.

the length of the long bed is quite close to the length of a full size pickup like a ram 1500 so might as well go that route if you’re thinking long bed.

You live in Canada if you have one of these you should get a 6 foot bed for the logging roadsE5994E24-632F-454C-AD7B-F6F5DFAA25C1.jpg

I'd like to see a head to head youtube video comparison of stock 2020 TRD off-roads in 5 foot and 6 foot box off-roading. No mods, stock tires, same trail.

I'm 6'4, so camping in a long box would be tricky too. Not something I'd do more than once or twice a year anyway.

In that pic you have a lot of weight hanging past the tailgate. It looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Not to worry, experience prevailed. No honor in mocking that which is not understood.

Occasionally I wish i'd gotten the long bed, but then everyday parking would have been more of a headache. I think compromise and buying the 95% use case is your best bet.

    OP,

Don't know if its been mentioned yet, but long bed fits skis a lot better. Short bed you have to put them in diagonally which takes up space from bags and gear. Thought that may matter depending on which part of Canada you're from.

gotcha. Mines a 2013 pro. Skinniest setting is about 39”. It’s still about 3” too wide. 36” width would prolly fit perfect.
