Nice! I average 13.5L-14.5L per 100 in the city on winter gas. I got e rated stock size bfgs and thats it. I do try to coast as much as possible and read the road ahead. You got AT or MT?

AT. Not a fan of the way the MT shifted. Compared to my 2013 JK it was crap. Basically compared to all other stick i have owned it's a crap shifter.

Stop the whining about fuel mileage and gas prices. This is my 1st truck, it got 6-8 mpg every day driving, 11 hwy, which was pretty typical for back in the day. Gas prices fluctuated wildly from about 60 cents per gallon to over $1/gallon. But relative to income in the 1970's vs today gas today would have to be $3-$5/gallon today to match 1970's prices.

Considering fuel is roughly 1/2 the cost of the 1970's and trucks will go about twice as far on a gallon of gas we've never had it so good.

Which oem tires did you have and size?
I drove 30k on oem Firestones 245/75/16 and never dipped below 20 mpg and had 450 miles on the tank range. City traffic and hilly terrain.
A few weeks ago I changed tires to "cool looking" and now barely make 20

I get a combined 14 mpg on my lifted truck with 33’s and some other mods. But, gas is $1.95 here so I’m not too worried about it. To be honest, it is what it is. My full size 2018 Silverado truck got roughly the same with just a leveling kit and 33’s. Just seems to be the norm with a truck. Mid to possibly high teens.

end of the day, it’s a truck and I wouldn’t drive anything else as my daily.

    Hm, interestring.

I had 4 mt vehicles and this one is the best by far, buttery smooth. I had mazda, chevy, honda and ford. After i removed the accumulator its a bit more pleasant to drive.

Buy a bed cover and that would improve MPG. If you don't travel long distances, by taking out the spare tire will also improve MPG as weight reduction is a huge factor as well. My truck is completely stock. I average from 28-31MPG, im not a heavy footer and my commute is 18 miles from home to work.

    4 banger 2wd?
    Cover does not improve..
And getting a flat w/out a spare will wipe your gas "savings"

Agreed, the shifter in the 3rd Gen is butter smooth compared to any previous Gen Tacoma's too.

i drive like an old man (according to my wife) and still get crap mileage. I actually found that no matter how I drive, I average 14.

I suspect there is something wrong with your truck. Unless you modified it with a bunch of stuff including wider tires etc, you shouldn't be getting 14MPG:eek:. People tend to add more things to they trucks and expecting to get 22MPG, funny!

My 2007 ranger felt like my buddies 1990 ford f150 4spd , haha! This is my first "modern" vehicle with MT. When i drove the taco i was amazed how smoothly the gears changed.

had 1990 b2200, 87 camaro, 90 civic and 07 ranger in MT, so all older style MTs i guess.

Sport 4x4. The cover did improve for me, I have a diamondback btw. Without a cover the tailgate acts like a parachute in motion holding the truck back in a way.

Interesting, my buddy has same truck (19 OR AT) and hes got the toyota tonneau cover. His fuel mileage is the same or worse than mine. I have MT as well so i should get worse.

I have a cover and number before and after installing it.
    No significant changes.
