I am just wondering what is the appropriate fluid for a rear diff on an 08 TRD Sport ( the one with limited slip)? I am sure I could find it here if I looked hard enough but I am at work and apparently they frown upon extended internet use here for some reason!
    Thanks

I think the general consensus is that a quality 80w-90 dino (Shell, Valvoline, Napa, etc.) oil with a tube of limited slip additive should be fine. There are a few threads on here where folks have tried various synthetics which usually result in chatter from the LSD. I think BlueT has used Mobil 1 Delvac with good results. The gear oils with the additive already mixed in don't seem to work as well with the LSD and still require a tube of friction modifier.

Excellent post. I used Royal Purple in a GM 14bolt that had brand new seals, bearings, and brakes. I did all the work myself, so I know it was definitely done right, and in 1 month that synthetic had worked it's way past the seals and into my brakes. I replaced the brakes and switched back to dinosaur oil and it's been great for the last 16 years.

Have Delvac with GM additive for almost now 5k miles and no issues. Today was cold and still no isssues so it stays. Good part Delvac supposed to be 1 000 000 mile oil. So I guess I never have to change it again :D
