Comes off a little QANON-ish to me.

TBH, I don't see what the big deal is. 2024 for a new Taco generation? Maybe one year earlier than most people expected, big whoop. *Possibly* unified with Hilux? Considering Toyota's shift to the TNGA thingy, not surprising either.

    This news is very whelming.

I'm wondering what they mean by possibly being unified with the hilux. I hope it looks nothing like it.

Uneducated, baseless guess would be that they make one conform to the other in order to reduce redundancy and make overall production and shared parts cheaper.

People are itching to spend the bank's money for the gram war. Some people traded in their 16-19 trucks for a 2020 for a power seat and carplay. We better hope Toyota comes out with a new Tacoma because the Bronco is coming out and we don't want the Joneses to win the gram war for likes. Those likes in the new economy will be able to be redeemed for free vacations to McDonald's Playland and a McFlurry

I believe the info in OP's post is correct. Someone else on this forum recently posted the same info. I'd rather see a late release than a bad release. As mentioned here, with all the changes going on the market today, the next Tacoma will probably have to be hybrid in some way if they want it to run for 10 more years. EPA rules are pretty strict and we all know the Toyota trucks ding the whole company's CAFE/EPA standards. If they want next gen trucks to have same longevity etc that these have, they need to take their time and get it right. No doubt, if Ford gets the Bronco right it will hurt a little, but likely hurt Jeep more than Toyota. Anyway, may as well enjoy your tradition ICE Toyota trucks. This will likely be the last generation of normally aspirated ICE trucks without some hybrid help.

Good read, first time I saw this. What do you mean Toyota does not care what I think? I'd like a 5th gen 4Runner with oem LEDs - the TSS. I also like the SX pkg access cabs the most out of all the 3rd gen renderings so far.

How many "likes" do I need for a McFlurry? :notsure: I want a X-tra large one, not a small...

Maybe I'll get there if I install power seats from a 2020 in my 2018 and post a DIY guide?

Peak bubble popping indicator when people will take the hit to trade in their 2 year old vehicle for power seats and carplay.

Funny and yeah some truth to that..... the new digital way of keeping up with the Jones'.

I have not seen all these 16-19 that have traded in for 20's with the power seat and car play flood the used market in such a way the price of said used trucks dropped much due to surplus used inventory. I would have bought one if that happened. I'm holding out till I have plenty saved up to get a new one at a payments I'm comfortable with. I'll have that carplay and power seat. I like the current version tacoma and don't care if i can earn insta likes or a free mcflurry I'm cool with whatever as long as it works for me.

Came up with a quick mock up of the 2020 McFlurry edition. It comes with one extra large McFlurry and rusting aluminum frame.

    A few.
The difference is the first two generations were complete redo's but the 3rd gen is only a partial redesign.

How many more people would have traded in their 18 or 19 if it was a completely new redesign?

that’s exactly what global or modular platforms are designed for.
It allows manufacturers to put out completely new models in the same cadence as apple making new iPhones.
short attention spans, the gram and the Jones’ all drive this.

the article is a little over the top and pretty cynical.
like everything else they do, they will be late to the party because they will be methodical and calculated about it.
It’s not because they are clueless, it’s because they can afford to be.
