Ha Ha nice weld job...
Yes, I did the re-gear, and no you cannot lock or unlock the E-locker for the 8.75 inch rear, it is a magnetic coil internal to the housing.

I don't know if it's the same on third gens, but on second gens you have to "lock" and "unlock" the diff by hand when you're removing and installing the third member. During reinstallation of the locker actuator, you're supposed to move the diff to "unlocked".

I am purely guessing here, maybe you didn't do that and left it locked. Finished up installation and now your shit is all confused because it's out of sync.

probably this, makes sense to me. Some sort of supporting evidence below. I would just switch the locker switch to unlocked, remove the actuator, take a peek inside and make sure that everything is in the unlocked position. If it isn't, then jack up the rear end and shift the locking fork over with a flathead. Then reassemble, lower the rear end, and try it again on the road.

My understanding of the 3rd gen locker is that does not have an actuator or a shift fork. It uses an internal electromagnetic device to engage the locking plate.

Sadly the manual does NOT say that you HAVE to be in 4WD to engage the locker. It only states that you should try 4Lo first before engaging the locker.

Why would they write all new code for the 2WD TRDOR's? Go out to your truck, turn it on, and engage the locker. No transfer case required.

Read page 253 of the instruction manual, it talks about 4wd and the diff but it never absolutley says that 4wd has to be engaged before you can engage the locker.

i pressed the locker button on accident once trying to press the traction button next to it to slide around a corner on ice. a warning symbol flashed at me. i havent tried my locker since. prob broken

I don't know if the 3rd gen's are the same as on my 350Z but all you gotta do is move the fork 45 degrees to the right.
