I took my 2019 4Runner to the new dealership next to Toyota HQ in Frisco. One would think it would be the best dealership they have... wrong.

They didn’t replace the oil filter, I didn’t mark the tires, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t rotate the tires. On top of that they didn’t reset the maintenance required light either. there were other issues as well such as them telling me they would have a shuttle ready for me when I arrived at my appointment time to drop car off... they didn’t. Ended up taking Uber after over an hour of waiting. Same thing when they said they would pick me up, shuttle was over an hour late and it was coming up on closing time so I didn’t want to risk it so I uber’d back there. Never again.

I miss the old days where people took pride in their work.

I've got my first service today at the dealer (5k). Marked one of my tires with a sharpie and took a picture of the oil filter housing... it's pretty dusty so it should show finger marks easily.

I am planning to take advantage of toyota care, but we'll see how this visit goes.

Unless you pay for the oil change it will be the same. No oil change at 5k, every 10k.

5k service does not include an oil change

10k or 12 months according to the service schedule... I'm nearing 12 months so going to push for it.

They will probably just wash the truck and tell you everything was checked.

How long does it take a dealer to balance tires on average?

Got a call back that the truck was done with oil change, rotation, and balancing. ~1hr 15 min time at dealer.

I'm paying for the balancing, so curious if that's a reasonable time to do everything.

I think that's an average time, considering how much paper work/computer crap they have to do these days.

I think you just have to go into it knowing they didn't do all the work you paid for, and it's your fault so you need to just deal with it. Thats scummy dealership logic.

go in with dirty rims. you can usually tell if the rims have been handled if you have brake dust imprints on the rim. (but you have to opt out of the wash)

Literally takes 15 minutes when the tires come off. I wouldn't worry unless it has a vibration.

Got the truck back. All looks good. Tires were rotated, oil was changed, skid plate was bolted on correctly (lol).

And so consumerism has taken over (and I'm a capitalist consumer, too). The same society that is banning plastic bags and straws is making everything else essentially disposable. I love when I nail it and find a product that is quality and lasts.

Around 2012, when Toyota Care was fairly new, I remember my dealer's service department was pretty good about the plan with my 4Runner- they just ticked off two oil changes- 5k and 10k and the plan was done instead of me going to 20k.

My question is about hard use/severe service. Do they recommend oil changes at 5k for that? If so, and my usage qualifies, shouldn't they be giving a total of 4 oil changes? Would never happen and I wouldn't push it (theme of the thread), but if it fits with their recommendations, it would be a great dealer that followed those recommendations.

5k oil change is recommended for "severe" driving.... how to prove severe driving, or how they make that determination? Not sure.

Try another dealer or an independent shop if you can.

I am too and that’s what I was trying to explain. The person depending on that bonus isn’t the one who stole the change out of your ashtray, or changed your radio station, or didn’t Buff out that run on your bumper.
Anyone who has ever had pay tied to CSI knows it’s bullshit and you never rip anyone on on a survey.

    pro tip-
Change the contact Info in your management system when you close the RO.
Karen can’t cost you your bonus because she didn’t like her rental from enterprise if she gets no chance to complain about it.
