Snow too deep for ambulance and access point too far to hike in with EMS gear, Taco saves the day!

About a 2k hike with field stretcher to access point, thankfully we had a big group on our HAFTA ride and were able to trade off on the carry. Our rider is going to be fine but make sure your first aid is up to snuff, you just never know when it will be required.

Rider fell off a rocky section, put a foot down in the snow, which got locked in a hidden hole and twisted 90 degrees. Broke Tib and Fib at ankle, foot pointed backwards.

Weird math up there in Canada eh. Seriously though, if you know the rider, make SURE they follow the exact post-op procedures the doc gives them. Don't let them weight bear, ride etc. earlier than they're allowed. It can ruin them for life. I see revision surgeries every day because people don't do what they're told and their shit doesn't heal/heal correctly.

That would’ve been the perfect time to have a skedco.

You know it EH. Cheers and thanks for the advice. She is a strong rider and no doubt will recover fully.

Pretty gnarly injury. Hoping for a solid recovery there. Coming off of surgery #5 on my elbow from a bike crash myself, and recovery has been a real PITA (or, PITE).

Love seeing pics of Tacomas saving the day though.
