There is an obvious difference in durability between P tires and LT tires.

However, People worry way too much about the specific tire they’re running. There’s no scientific evidence that shows one E rated LT tire is any more durable than another. It’s all anecdotal evidence. So just pick a set and run them and have the means to repair when the inevitable happens.

There was a certain East Side non-profit that used to pull some stupid shit. About 10 years ago they blocked the trail that parallels the Mammoth scenic loop road. Over the course of a few nights they pulled a bunch a deadfall across 1/2 mile section of trail. Why at night? Because they are spineless douches that wouldn't have the courage to face anyone and be held accountable for their actions.

The forest in that area is pretty wide open and Cal Fire does a great job of keeping it thin. So what happened? The first weekend after the "blockage" a new trail was cut in around it. There was never any OK from the FS to do it and the FS was pissed it happened. This group did all that work and ended up making it worse. Cal Fire came in later that summer and cleaned all that shit up and burnt it the following winter.

Moral of the story? Both enviros and off-roaders have self-serving dickwads that think they can do what they want. In doing so they almost always make it worse. If you want to affect change get involved in meetings and planning with the FS and BLM. Don't be the douche that gets trails closed.

I can point out several roads in the Inyo's and up around Long Valley that have been "closed" by folks that can't help themselves...
I cross the border into Nevada and see none of this behavior/attitude.

I just sucks that people cannot just let others enjoy their activities without hassle. 90% of the time, the people who vigilante close trails would never, in a million years, go there anyway.

..that dang-it californication just make no sense...I do not see how anyone in their right mind would choose to live there...everyone that lives there in that state should go somewhere else.

Yeah, I don't get that mentality. "You can't enjoy this area because I think it needs to be closed."

To late. There have been so many Californians move here the last 20 years that there has been a sizeable change in the demographics. The reality is that most all low tax states are seeing a mass migration from high tax states. Ultimately you just see the newcomers vote the same way they always have

In Nevada we have ranchers and private property owners that try to close or gate off public roads and trails. They’ll post the shit out of a trail to try to make it look private so people don’t go down it.

It’s enough of an issue they passed a law criminalizing it.

I see both sides of it. Public land is public land. However, if I were a ranch owner, I wouldn't want John Q. Public driving through my place, trashing as he goes.
I imagine that this issue has yet to be resolved.

    Part 2

...And then, a final fly-by. Just a single jet this time, and lower than all the rest - by quite a margin. He came tearing through the southern end of the valley as he banked towards the dunes, the exhaust obscuring the Inyo mountains behind the plane. Perhaps only 60-75 feet above the top of the dunes, the ground shook as he *gained altitude* in order to pass overhead - and then through the gap.

Wow those are some amazing photos of the F18s! My cellphone failed pretty miserably as a camera when jets were flying over our camp last weekend. What lens setup did you use for that shot?

I didn't even realize the Hornet was still being flown by the military. That's 40 year old tech right there. lol

I seem to have replied to this elsewhere - oops - photo setup was my normal setup, and this was the 18-135 USM lens @ 65mm f/8 1/800.

They all appear to be Super Hornets. So only 25 years ;)

The youngest B-52 is 58 years old and is suppose to remain in service for 30 more!

Lol I saw it there already, thanks! I will have to get a DSLR someday. (Hopefully this year.)

Well for being 40 years old, they sure can do some neat stuff!

Younger than me and I’d like to think I’m still serviceable. Seriously, I think of the F18 as a new plane, but the B52 already seemed old when I was young, as the thinking seemed to be that new bombers would either be supersonic or smaller fighter or attack plane based (and also supersonic).
