I just picked up a new 2019 SR5 V6 DCSB this past weekend. It has the keyless entry H-key but not the push button start. Can I enable the factory alarm with TechStream? I've searched a couple different ways, but most of the into I found was related to the push button start trucks.

Welcome to the forum from Eastern North Carolina

Edit: I "think" that if you have a "factory alarm" ii's enabled by default.

Thanks, South Louisiana here. The immobilizer light on the dash near the climate control starts blinking immediately when the doors are locked. It does not stay solid for 30 seconds like I've read it should with the alarm.

I took my 2019 SR5 to the dealer to ask them if they could enable the alarm. It can be turned on, but without the hood latch switch you will get a warning on the dash saying something like “hood ajar”.

So looking into my 2019 SR5 a little further it does not appear to currently display if/when the hood it popped, however it does appear to have the Hood Switch Dummy Connector referenced in the GBS installation manual. Pictures of my truck here https://imgur.com/a/WaXj5YL

So, exactly how do we tell if a Tacoma has an alarm or not? I'm looking all over at 2020 specs and can't seem to find anything that clearly tells you if it has an alarm and/or what kind of alarm. Are there only certain trims that have it and/or do you need a premium or technology package?

I don't wanna hafta answer 'No' to this everytime I do an insurance quote.

Check the driver/passenger side front windows. Do you see a sticker that says Toyota Auto Alarm?

Well, I'm still shopping, so I guess I'll have to look for that. Thanks. I'm just surprised why that doesn't seem to be in the specs anywhere.

Lock the truck with windows down. Wait a just a minute and unlock the door lock with your finger and open the door. Alarm will go off.

Pretty sure the VIN provides the features that insurance cares about. When they run it it will pop if its there.
