The drum/shoe combo lasts a long time and they stop in a decent distance.

Yeah; A friend of mine did tell me that the Toyota engineers knew what they were doing when they designed the truck...

Still pisses me off that intermittent wipers aren't standard across the board though!

I guess they are still trying to offer a low budget model to keep the MSRP as low as possible.

The GM trucks, the Ford Rangers, the Nissans, and Mazdas all had intermittent wipers standard...

Here's a story from when I first got my driver's license...

Everyone who's been reading this thread knows that I did not get my license until I was 22 years old (In May 2011); When I first got my license, my mom an obnoxious worrywart just like all parents of newly licensed drivers...

We were living in Furlong (Buckingham Township) at the time, and in July 2011 I bumped into an Aspie girl I knew from the Coffeehouse at the gym. We got to talking, and she invited me to see the midnight premiere of Captain America: The First Avenger; The movie was released on Friday, July 22nd, 2011.

My mom was in the annoying "text me as soon as you get where you're going" stage; This was before I had an iPhone, so "Find-A-Friend" was out of the question! We were seeing the movie at the Regal Barn Plaza on 611 in Doylestown, which was ten minutes at most from our old house. So, I drove to the theater without incident, met up with my friends, and had a great time; This was the first midnight showing I'd ever been to!

I parted ways with my friends in the wee hours of the morning, and came out to the Tacoma to find a piece of printer paper taped to the steering wheel. I'd forgotten to text my mom to tell her that I'd arrived safely at the movie theater...

Instead of texting me before I went into the movie she'd taken it upon herself to drive to the movie theater, unlock the truck with her key, and tape the nastygram to my steering wheel. I finally got my first iPhone into late 2012, and it was probably sometime in 2012 before the requirement to text one of my parents upon arrival at my destination went away (though I still text one or both of my parents upon arrival at my destination, as a common courtesy).

Another time, again probably in 2011 or maybe 2012, I went to Puck for open mic night and didn't text my mom upon arrival; Unfortunately, in a case of bad timing, my mom got a call from the Central Bucks Police Benevolence Association or something, and it just came up on the caller ID on our landline as "Central Bucks Police". My mom about had a heart attack, because she hadn't yet received a confirmation text from me and was convinced it was the cops calling her to tell say that I'd wrapped the Tacoma around a tree or something...

My mom chewed me out upon my arrival home that night!

Luckily, Find-A-Friend has made the need to text my parents when I arrive at my destination obsolete!

My friend and former boss, who isn't connected with me on Find-A-Friend at the moment, makes me text her when I arrive home if I'm driving in bad weather, or even when I take an Uber home after a night of drinking!

    She only did that once...

Like I said, my mom stopped being such a worrywart years ago!

One of my coworkers offered to buy my truck a couple months ago; Even if it was for sale, I told him that my truck was not a good choice for him because he lives much farther north than me, and a 4x4 Taco would be the better choice...

He agreed, but he still compliments me on my truck every time he sees it!

After sharing the harrowing tale of how my beloved 7th grade English teacher got bitten by a Brown Recluse in another thread, I figured I'd share another story about the same teacher here...

He once told us the story of how a puppy he had in the 1980s (Either a Labrador or a Golden Retriever) ate an entire box of crayons and was literally pooping candles for a week!

No pun intended (or maybe the pun is intended), but you can't make this shit up!

    @shakerhood

Goodman's cheapest heat pump has a Heating Seasonal Performance Ratio (HSPF) of 9, which is actually pretty damn good! I consider Trane to be the Rolls-Royce of HVAC manufacturers, and their cheapest heat pump has an HSPF of 8.2!

Hopefully she gets a good service life out of that one, that is if the guy ever gets it installed, lol.

I went to see Fantasy Island with a friend and former coworker from the detail shop, and even though the movie only got a 10% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be!

I saw it at the the recently reopened movie theater in Montgomeryville, now called the Water Tower Cinema, and one of the employees was a young man named Ben Hartranft. Ben is almost ten years younger than me, but just like me is on the autism spectrum. He asked me flat out if I was on the spectrum, and I told that I have Aspergers. We got to talking, and then when the movie was over, I took him out to the parking lot and showed him the stereo system in my truck; Unsurprisingly, he was absolutely enthralled with my stereo system after hearing the opening riffs of Bat Out Of Hell! Turns out that Ben has been on the Ellen DeGeneres show; He's also been on the Preston and Steve morning show on my favorite radio station, 93.3 WMMR! He works at Dorney Park in addition to working at the movie theater, and he even has a driver's license! So, here's to new friends!
